I love Gasaraki also!! I can't wait for the third volume to come out. This anime would be the result of mixing Votoms,Evangelion, and Lain in a blender. The animation's great, the music is perfect(I bought the soundtrack, and I have a remixed version of the opening theme in Mp3 form),and the story is great.

glad to know that someone else besides myself has discovered this excellent anime series.

see you space cowboys.

here is my brief explanation of the story:

"Gasaraki" is the power to bring the horror to this world ... the world, which exists within us, among us. It is near future, the powerful Gowa family is trying to call upon the power of Gasara by using one of their own son, Yuushiro, by performing the traditional Japanese theatric dance called "Noh." A mysterious girl soon interrupts him while he is calling the power.... "Don't call it again... The horror!" Meanwhile, Japanese Tactical Armors (Mechas) team up with United States Tanks as they realize that another country may be calling "Gasaraki".

i highly reccomend that you give this anime a try.It may be hard to get into at first, but by the second tape it will have you totally hooked.

see you space cowboys.

WHOA! There ARE other people out there who like Gasaraki! I thought this would be another dead thread made by yours truly. Guess I was wrong.

I will be going back to the store soon and when I do I'll check for Gasaraki. I've got to start buying from the internet. Much better selection and prices depending on where I go.

I like Gasaraki, probably because of the way they blend in all that Japanese theatre and history and philsophy. I'm a big fan of anime that have lots of cultural details or a new take on mythology. (I'm a Blue Seed fan, too.) I have a friend who claims that its the slowest moving anime she's ever seen. I agree with her on that part, but the plot begins to pick up on the third disc. Too bad I can't get her to watch anything that's not a comedy.

I've seen Episodes 1-7 dubbed and really like them so far. It's one of those, "Drop you in the middle" animes where you're greeted with lots of unfamilar info and then slowly get led back into the plot. Really in-depth story with international politics and war as the background chatter. The animation is very high quality, I'd love to see this on DVD. The English VAs did a very respectable job, although I think some of the male voices sound too much alike. Speaking of sound, the BGM and opening theme is really good. I'm interested in seeing where this complex story goes... :B::up:

my first thoughts on seeing the box was "is this kinda a freakish robotech/gundam/eva hybrid?" -- i have yet to find out.

I have all the currently released dvds (the whole 3 of them :P) and I am irked about some things.

First off, what is up with the main character? He's like a mute rei ayanami on serious depressants.

Second, what is up with the varying animation quality and style? The first couple episodes have great animation, but as the series goes on, some episodes the animation quality goes out the window (less fps/choppy, the disappearing nose/reappearing nose, 'squiggly lines' vs. crisp lines). Did sunrise miss a few payrolls or what?

Regardless, I'm hooked on this series and unless pikachu suddenly has a guest appearance I will buy the rest of it.

Me and a freind of mine where at the mall and I'm like "Gasaraki, I heard of that." So we both bought the first tape (4 eps.) It IS slow, but it seems like it could be a good series. I have the series on hold, I wasn't excited enough to buy it over Lain. When I'm done with Lain, I'll try the rest.

hell yeah. i was just about to start a Thread on this, but i decided to be certain that there wasn't already one. yeah, i've been looking into this series for quite some time now. in fact, i believe Yumiko recommended to me before it was releasted.................? i don't remember. though i can certainly say that i've been drooling over its DVDs every time i enter a store that has it. it really sounds great. the Mech designs were a bit poor, but fairly different in the same, but the Animation. wow.. once i inhaled its Aura, i just wanted more. but Escaflowne, and Lain!?!? that's an interesting combination. i must check this one out ASAP.

Man, I haven't been able to pick up any more of Gasaraki after my first vid I got pacifically because my store focuses more on getting in all of the DBZ vids than any other anime. That's all right but still. They need to start focusing on more anime then DBZ!

Did I just say that? I think I'm sick. I'm going to lay down now.
