What is it about? I've seen 3 tapes for rent locally and have been eyeing it for a while. What shows does it compare to?

Well, i can't quite say which anime it can compare to.. it's more on a mild level, basiaclly bout this one girl key who ventures around trying to make as many as 30000 friends just so she can be human, which she is.. cept, she thinks she's a robot and she's got these powers. finding her true self and crushing a tyrant's the main plot. very haunting but beautiful theme song.

it's a very hard to explain series...if it's similar to anything, it's serial experiments lain. but its still not even very close to that..

damn !"#%&%#&! You spoiled me the series! I'm in the middle of ep14, but didn't had a clear idea if Key was a robot or not. Thanks alot.

I just finished the series a few weeks ago actually, and I think it's pretty awesome.
I agree with CAT about the somewhat similarity to SE Lain, in that the series has the same kind of eerie feel to it as Lain.
And I suppose Lain and Key themselves could be found similar to eachother aswell...

Key the Metal Idol is a pretty different anime from anything else I've seen before really, plot-wise and I find it very interesting overall with lots of aspects to think about.

I would definitely recommend it to people who haven't seen it yet, and who likes anime's that are a bit 'odd'...^^

Its about pop, robots, and spookiness. And Affen, episode 14 is where they say it...

I've got the 2 DVD's, and I still need the last one. I heard the last few episodes were movies?

Episodes 14 & 15 are each an hour and a half long. Same production value as the series, just really long.

And most of that length is just used to tie up plot points in monologue/dialogue form..
