So what did everyone think. Taking all 25 of the 26 episodes they showed into account, what's your opinion of this series?

Heres what I think:

The series started off good, but as the episodes went on past episode 10 or so, there started to be some filler episodes. Now, once the whole storyline of the Galactic Layline kicked in, I thought the story was pretty good, and the conflict between the 3 opposing sides was really nice. The problem was that they didn't get into the Galactic Layline story until Episode 20 or so. Granted, mystery is a great tool, but without the Galactic Layline (which is the entire point of the story), there basically is no story.

I thought some of the filler episodes were good, some not so great. Others completly wierd.

Once it got to the end though, wow. I though it had a really good conclusion, and the final battle with Hazanko was well animated.

I kinda wish there was more though, but all in all, I'd say Outlaw Star was a pretty good show. Not Great, but good.

if ya don't like it on cartoon network, go out somewhere and buy the uncut series!

altogether, i LOVE outlaw star, ya. the beginning to me was mebee the most boring part, all the action sucked me in. i agree, the three way fight was pretty good, but it turned into a two way fight AGAIN after about a few episodes. overall, outlaw star on cn, i give it a 9 out of 10.

I give OS on CN a 3/10, waaay too much editing! darn toonami cutters

I give the OS videos in stores a 8/10! Pretty good anime! :D

I liked when Gene and Melfina kissed at the end, how cute :p

I thought it was great, the only problem was those last 2 episodes were so damned rushed... I would have liked to see a nice battle between Ron and Gene, but nope... -_-

I haven't finished the subbs, so I can't say anything there. I'll get them shortly.

I also felt the ending was rushed, especially since the Galactic Leyline was supoosed to be so important. Then it turns out to be another "unlimited wish-granter" plot device. Don't get me wrong, I liked the show and I really wanted to see the 3-way fight at the end, but after going through all the crap they did, it didn't feel like much of a payoff. Did the series ever get into detail about the Tao magic and the Caster guns? I missed an ep or two in the middle...

Tao magic, while dangerous and powerful, appears to be something rather common knowledge. When Gene saw them use Tao magic, he was at first surprised by the fact that they were Tao users, but wasn't surprised by what they could do with the power. I think its just a powerful form of magic used by people in the universe, particularly the Kay pirates (or however its spelled).

As for Caster shells, it was only stated in one episode by Ron Mcdougal that the Caster's energy was based on some new type of energy technology that the Tao Masters had never incountered before, Thats why its so effective against them. Of course, the Anten 7 are immune to just about any type 11 or type 10 Caster shell. The lesser 6 can be destroyed by a type 9, but Hazanko himself couldn't be destroyed even by a type 9.

yeah i thought Outlaw Star was pretty good. But CN shouldnt have edited soooo many things. it takes the fun out of it. They shouldve made the 3way battle a little more intense. I mean there couldve been a better battle between McDougal and Gene. That woudlve been good. What the hell's wrong with that Khan guy? I know he wanted knowledge and all, but still that guy was messed up.

I agree that the ending was kinda rushed. Its like "lets go to the Galactic Layline" and BOOM "Lets go to some other galaxy to have fun and explore".

Anyways, it was an okay series. Im not saying the best, but its good.

After I had watched the last episode shown on CN, I got my friends imports and got to watch the episode that wasn't shown in the US at all. After I saw that, I was pissed that it wasn't shown. It explains all about the castors and why they are effective against the Toa magic and why they last three would kill Gene.
It helped tie a lot of the episodes together. At least in my opinion.

i was hopeing that there would be a little more gunplay, rather then gene wipin' out his caster, shooting the guy, and then the fight was over. other then that and the anal retentive toonami editors, the show was pretty good.

So can you explain about the casters, cuz i got no clue on how he knows so much and all that other stuff. I want to know what CN left out. :-)

The commercials were better than what was on CN (in my opinion). Why do they love to edit anime? Is it because they love to see us suffer!?!

A quite fine anime. I like space, so it's my kinda thing. CN scraped it, bent it, and cracked it till it busted. Still alive and well, it'll return...once Gene grows back his hair.

you guys are exagerating too much, yes, OS was edited a lot, but you guys make it sound like it was worse than the fox kids escaflowne edits. and the hot springs episode would have been better left out, the episode involves two guys asking gene to take a nude picture of the other girl wizard, if cn did air it, then the episode would have been like 6 minutes becuase of the edits

Turst me… There was so much cleavage…/Nudity in the Hot Springs of Tenrei Epsido… It would have never would have survied…

And the reason most episodes were butchered were because of one major factor…

Rofl....so true. Anyway, as for the series. I thought Outlaw Star was a great series. It had everything I look for in a series. Great story (minus a few filler episodes which had nothing to do with anything), great characters, great development, great action, everything about it in my opinion was really good. It was short, which kind of upset me, but it definetly was a good series. I would have wished the ending episodes to continue on a little more, for as many said, they were rushed, but hey.

Anyone here any new news about the sequel? I haven't heard anything in a while....

The Hot Springs Episode was rather tame actually. Put in CN's typical digital clothing and edit out the dirty video and you're still left with about 20 minutes worth of footage that they could have left in. People, many of which who haven't even seen the episode have tendency to over-rate its 'offensive aspects' to an insane degree.

But the amount of money that goes into that… (I mean it costs a lot…) And because you can jus sum it up in the next episode… And they did… :heh:

It just wasn't worth it…

yup, it pretty much sums up the episode in the next one in the first lines. and the plot of the episode was going up and taking a nude picture, i cant see any way they can cover that up, well, they can but they're gonna have to change the dialogue and in my opinion, the episode will get ruined
