What's an oreo? I'm guessing you need to be an American to know ;)

Two chocolate slabs of cookie with cream in the middle. Think of a Kingston except totally different (and also not as good... mmmm, kingstons rock).

I thought oreo's were known everywhere. You're missing out because Oreo's are really good, especially double stuffed ones. An Oreo has 2 chocolate waffers stuck together by a white cream like filling. Probably not good for you, but they taste great.

Hmmm....My attempt at sarcasm seems to have failed. I know what oreos are...I watch enough American TV and have seen them in the 'American Product' aisle of the supermarket :)

I've been spared this biscuit so I cant say that I noticed a link till now. and to go a little OT why are Oreos so popular? They taste terrible. The bickies don't even taste like chocolate. Now the Tim Tam, thats a biscuit

YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! Anything made by Nabisco is awful. They don't use real ingredients in their products. Some of the stuff is derived from petroleum oil (same stuff they use to make gasoline). Give me real food!

Associating something as wonderful as Nadesico with crap-maker Nabisco is pathetic....>_<....

yes, anime should always come before snack-food.

did you know that Australia exports Vegemite to America, but america doesn't export its food back? yay, less americanisation of our culture.

It reads like nah-des-see-ko to me.

I'm thinking about getting this series since it's so popular.

... Must experience all worthwhile popular anime series.

Dragon ball, pokemon and Sailor moon aren't worthwhile to me. Is nadesico at all like them?

There are no magical-girl teams in Nadesico. Or little trainable rodents. Or 20-episode fight scenes which comprise a total of 1 hr of time, between people so powerful they destroy planets with a ki blast- and then get more powerful in the next story arc.

It's cliche, but you do have to watch the first few episodes to get into the swing of it, because the story doesn't start out at the very beginning. The characters are entertaining when the comedy is prevalent, and believable when the war is. (Maybe I should just say they're not 2-dimensional).

You may or may not be annoyed by the frequent '4th wall violations', and you may or may not enjoy all the parodies/references/homages to other anime, non-anime, and anime fans.

To me the series is all about romance and the growth that people undergo when faced with adversity. While still being one of the funniest series I have ever seen, it takes on a more serious and meaningful atmosphere than other series.

Yes, Nadesico is defiatly an odd series. Although it may look like a standard-issue giant mecha anime at the outset, it does get better a couple of eps into the series.

But DO NOT watch the movie until you've finished the series. It ruins everything.

Thanks, looks promising. If I find it cheap somewhere, I may just pick it up!

The tapes are actually quite cheap in australia. Here we pay a max of about $30 australian for a tape. Thats about $15 US.
