a new slayers thread

We need to get some discussions going in this forum, guys so lets get to it. I'll try to start one.
What's your favorite slayers series: Slayers, Slayers Next, or Slayers Try? And why?

Well, I have yet to see all of each series. I've seen (own) Slayers first series (1-26). I've only seen the first few episodes of Slayers Next. And I've seen about half of Slayers Try (fansubbed).

My favorite series would probably be Slayers Try. I'd say that. . .because. . .my favorite character in the series is Xelloss and I haven't seen enough of Next to say it's good compared to Try (make sense? probably not).

Anyways, finally, a new thread in here. And shouldn't the OAVs also be pickable for a series. Since they should 'technically' count as another series.

Oh yeah, they can count as a series. I haven't seen them yet, though. I also like Try the best. I think the constant bickering between Xellos and the golden-dragon lady (I forgot her name) is funny. The bad guys look really cool in try, too.

Yeah, the bad guys might be another reason I liked the series.

Rezo was cool and all, with his staff, etc. But I really liked how Valgarv looked, and the story they gave him (last of ancient dragons, etc). Oh, and the scene where he blocks Golunnova with his arm, that was cool too.

Btw, Filia'd be the golden dragon lady.

One thing that I really like about the slayers series are that they all have that classic rpg feel. A group on a quest to find or save whatever.

That would be cool. I just have the emulator of that and I haven't beaten it yet. I'm stuck somewhere in the future. I keep having to fight the same robots over and over.

But, I have gotten quite far in the game (emu version, no cheating). Let's see. . .I'm on my second (or maybe third?) time through the game with level. . .somewhere around 60-70 guys and 3 of each mail (Red Mail, Blue Mail, etc). And quite a few other things. . .

I think Zelgadis is cool. I'm glad they never changed him back to a normal human, because then he wouldn't look so neat.

Yeah, Zelgadis is cool. I like his Japanese voice. Heheheh, same guy who voice acts for Ryouga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2).
And. . .I try to stay on topic as much as possible. But, I think that we could fit Chrono Trigger into a topic for Slayers.

We might as well try, at least we'll get the post count up for the slayers forum. Maybe get some more people to look in here. I'm surprised that chrono trigger hasn't been made into an anime. It's almost perfect for it. I mean, heck they made street fighter, final fantasy, tekken, and fatal fury into animes.

Well, I'd love to see Magus as an anime character (I doubt you've seen him yet though). And I'd love to see an anime of Chrono Trigger using the artwork (style, I suppose) of Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragonball, Dr. Slump, etc. Also did the artwork for Chrono Trigger).

And I don't think that there's much wrong with going a bit off topic (it's still around the area. Magic, rpg type elements, etc) when this forum is going so slow. I mean. . .look in the Moderator/Admin Forum, it does go a bit off topic, but that's hard to do with 2 (now about 8 or so) mods/admins.

Yeah, i haven't seen Magus yet. I didn't know Akira toriyama did the artwork for chrono trigger. Do you mean he designed the characters or did he do other stuff too?

Well, I'm not too sure what he did. I'm just sure that he's on the credits for the game (and part of the dream team in tyhe special ending). And everyone (most everyone) who auctions the game on Ebay mentions his name, and Square.

I believe (though) that he designed the characters. Look at Crono in the status screen, looks like a Super Saiya-jin 4 ^_^;; Actually, when my friend played, he named his characters Dragonball based:
Crono --> Goku
Marle --> Bulma
Frog --> Nail
Lucca --> (I forgot)
Ayla --> #18
Magus --> (I forgot)
Robo --> #16

Haha, cool. That must've been the second time he played it so he knew how all the characters looked.
Right now I'm at some part in the future where I walk by some futuristic car type thing and a bunch of robots come out, I beat them, try walking past the car, then more come. Over and over. There's also one building in the future that if i walk into it, all I see are clouds. I hope it's supposed to be like that (otherwise it's probably a bad emu)

Well, the clouds are an emu problem :(

If you're using ZSNES, then you can either turn off that layer (one of the keys 1-5. but it also turns off text) or:

Go to Configuration/Video. Set the video to 640x480 and turn on either Interpolation of Triple Buffering. I can't remember which, but one of those sets the graphics so all of the transparency effects work (which, strangely enough, were fine in earlier versions).

And, to go past the car thing. Go back to one of the domes, there is a ladder you can climb down, you go there and beat this big robot (after catching a rat and finding that all of the food is spoiled). When you go back up the ladder, one of the people gives you the keys to the car and you use that to cross.

Do you go into your profile and change your sig after every single message you post?

Heh, I'd do that, but it doesn't work. I've tried, anytime you change something (avatar icon, sig, if there's anything else, then probably that too), it changes that for all of your posts. :(

So, instead of that, I just 'fake' my sig by posting the '__________________' line and then typing up (or copying and pasting lately, so I don't spend half an hour finding a sig) what I want for the sig.

Anyways, I heard that Chrono Cross doesn't have Toriyama involved in it :(
But, it is a Square game, so it should be good (wish I could say FF8 was). Too bad I don't have a Playstation though. But, I did get a new avatar pic until Eva2000 (hopefully) uploads the Yuusuke and Hiei icons.

Wow, I don't have a playstation either (i thought i was the only one). I'm gonna have to play chrono cross and all the other psx games i've missed on the playstation2 since it's backwards compatable. Yeah, i saw you changed your icon. I've had this one for awhile, maybe eva2000 will find some kenshin ones later since I can't seem to find any decent ones.

Anime wise, I'm at a few episodes after the death of Shishio.

Manga (scanned, translated) wise, I'm somewhere in (around the middle) of the Oniwa Banshu/Kanryu/Shinomori Aoshi/Megumi and opium/whatever storyline. I really should look at that link, but have yet to. Soon though. . .

Btw, what's Enishi look like?

He's got kindof short blue hair (if it's in color) and these small cool looking glasses. I don't really know what kindof weapon he fights with, I haven't read that far yet, but I'm assuming it's a sword of some kind.

If you like Slayers, have you seen Lost Universe? And if so, what did you think of it? It's by the same guy who created Slayers, and pretty much has almost the same characters as Slayers, except with different names and a few MINOR changes ^^;;

Well, I've been trying to get my hands on some Lost Universe episodes, but even if I got them, I still have a lot of Kenshin and Saber Marionette episodes that I still have to watch.

The three Slayers series (Slayers, Slayers Next, and Slayers Try) each have 26 episodes. . . and have been/are being released by Software Sculptors (is that the right company?) in 8 tapes per series (that is, Slayers Next contains 8 tapes with 26 episodes total).

There're also movies and OAV series of Slayers, but I've yet to see them (much) ^_^;;

As for what the series is about. . . um. . . does "really funny sword an' sorcery anime" work as a decription? ^^;; Hopefully, someone else can/will say some more about the series. . . I'm bad with descriptions *.*
