I really need to rewatch the Eva series, but if I remember right, the Magi was operational before Naoko died, meaning that the thing that Ritsuko opens up is probably just a computer part that was made to store one of the aspects of Naoko. Just my belief, though. (Gonna have an Eva marathon now that school's out, and a Ranma marathon, and a Slayers marathon, and. . .by the end of my many marathons, my brain will be fried.)

Not sure which episode, but the one where the origions of the Evas and NERV are revealed.....Dr. Akagi mention the fact that the magi where a biological computer, so it is little wonder the stuff inside look like brain...may have been an artificial brain.

But, biological computers are becoming reality......a computer using a biological based memory has been developed in some us university...

The MAGI's brains are biological componants, scince it is a bio-computer. The MAGI's have three aspects of Naoko in them, but they are just duplications of what is in Naoko.

The biological computer is closr than you may think. One man has been able to use a computer to supply stimulius to a nerve, but has been unable to use this in any way. It's a start, though. Plus there is professor Kevin Warwick who is going to or already has a computer surgically attached to his arm to test nerve/computer interaction

Firstly, all three brains were clones/ synthetic (probly of Naoko)

After she killed herself, Gendo placed her real Brain in Magi Casper.

Thus Ritsuko, knowing this, gestures towards it (in EoE0 in the way she does.

I just don't see why anyone should need to put Akagi's original, (smashed), brain in the magi.

The three brains already installed were more probably cloned Akagi stock- 'the three sides of mother'-Ritsuko as you originally said ATh.

I could of course bring up that kaji's melons were rather large when we saw them,

perhaps too large for the amount of time Kaji was in Tokyo-3, i could also ask what evidence do you have that Gendo did not plant Kaji's melons?

Finally there is no real evidence that Naoko's brain was smashed, it is simply assumed.

Also if the synthetic brains are cloned from Naoko, she my have jumped from casper, at her death, her soul moved into the brain in Casper as it was the closest.

(the possibilites are endless)

the real question is whether Casper was different from the other magi in that it was capable of independant thought?

Come to think of it, there is something odd about those melons....

I reckon Naoko's soul inhabits, (and inhibits), them.
Remember during 3rd impact when that soul escapes from one of Kaji's melons? Perhaps Kaji's mega melons are the 18th Angel?

Keroppilee, that was a joke post, right? Unless you've not seen the episode with Zeruel (or quite a few after that), I'll assume that was a joke.
If not, then, yes, Kaji has watermelons. Don't worry, you'll see soon enough, just wait until you get to see episode 20.
Oh, and while on that topic, does anyone know why watermelons was translated to flowers (was that it?) in the dubb? Was that what he said in the dubb when speaking with Shinji, or was it just in that one tape I have dubbed (Kaji on the answering machine).

i was about to ask the same thing, in subbed copy of the series, Kaji refers to them as "melons" (not watermelons) but in my subbed copy of Death and Rebirth, he says they are flowers - i cant figure out that part since they basically are the same scene

When Kaji shows Shinji for the first time, they are watermelons.
In EP 19 he is sprinkling the watermelons with water.
But on Misato's answering machine he says "Could you water my flowers, Shinji knows where they are."

At any rate, I think that the reason they weren't damaged during the angel fights, was because they were inside the Geo-front. Cos when Kaji is talking about his melons to Shinji, it was after Zerual had decended into the Geofront. And because it had decapatated Unit 02, and unit 2's head had crashed into the shelter where Shinji was staying, forcing him to flee and he sees Kaji watering the melons.

Gee, that was really poorly worded, and convoluted wasn't it? If my English teach saw that, she'd fail me straight away.
