Question about hospital scene

I had a bootleg of EOE, and i just want to make sure i have the right idea. At the start when shinji sees asuka and does something, is it him and "little shinji" or does he actually do something TO asuka? I'd always assumed it was himself.

But seriously, and I know I'm going to catch hell for this but, lets look at the situation here. You have an almost 15 year old male, looking at the beautiful girl he has been infatuated (sp) with for months, who has rejected all his meager attempts at a relationship, who in his mind hates him, lying naked in a bed. OK, I'm not going to sit and say this is normal behavior, but IMO this is not way out in left field here. I think it is a good representation of Shinji's state of mind, in terms of his own self worth and his desire for Asuka.

PS Anno could have made this scene much worse, thank god he didn't.

Yeah so what if Shinji blew up in front of Asuka??? I have the VCD version of D&R and the picture is so clear you could actually see the particles of the "ectoplasm" on his hand.
