What is the tree of life?

In the Movie Death and Rebirth I think it is, (when NERV was being taken over), when the Lance of Loganthis (spelling) almost got stuck in Shinji, what were those aliens....... and what was the thing they were biting into on shinji's eva? And why did they form the tree of life? Was that the 3rd impact? And most importantly what is the AT field??

well i'll try to answer wour questions

what is the tree of life?
>>>the tree of life shows the 10 emanations of god into the universe. notice that it is an inverted tree. its roots represent God or the metaphysical Being. as you move downward through the branches of the tree, you somehow loose an aspect of the divine self - and thus become less godly or become a being (small b). In Eva, shinji somehow manages to move up the tree, gain all aspects of the sephiroth, and become equal to god. but he rejects the final sephira - Keter, and so humanity returns to its original state

the lance is spelled as Lance of Longinus

the aliens w/c you are referring to are the Mass Produced (MP) Eva's - eva's 05-13, aka Eva Series the thing they were biting on were Eva 01's wings. they formed the tree of life when the lance of longinus merged w/ unit 01 - thus unit 01 gained the other aspects of the kabbalah.

Was that the 3rd impact?

Talking about the tree of life,has anyone noticed what's on the floor and ceiling of Gendo Ikari's office(Maybe just the ceiling)

yes, the diagram on Gendou's office is the tree of sephiroth. it is seen on both ceiling and floor.

speaking of ceiling and floor, once i get some spare cash, i might contact some local artist to paint a tree of sephiroth on my room's ceiling - but until then, thats just in my imagination :lol:
