penpen is lonely

All of his friends and family must have been wiped out in second impact. I think that penguins were those who suffered the most from second impact. I'm surprise that penpen could live with misato despite the fact that she worked for NERV, one of the major contributors to the death of all his penguin friends.

Penpen must really resent Gendo, who knowingly left for Japan the day before second impact but did not warn any of the penguins of their impending doom.

I think he is glad. Now he is a warm water penguin and there is alot more warm water on earth than cold. So when second impact occurred he was given the ability to travel the world.(Not that there was much to see after 2nd impact)

Also I think possibly Misato might have found him after she was saved by her father. Maybe they had some harrowing survival experience that gave them a bond.

PenPen is a surfire P-I-M-P!! He lives with Misato to begin with, then gets to live with Asuka too. That's a huge score in and of itself. He gets to go with all of them to the hot springs and though we only see him on the men's side, I'm pretty sure that Misato wouldn't care if he visited the women's. Total Pimp! (Pimping tools in Misato's case would be a can of beer and some instant ramen with curry flavoring. Other than that I couldn't even begin to hazard a guess.)

I'd have to wonder about that too. Not only did he see his butt, he also saw his package on a couple of occasions. And in the Magma Diver episode, Pen-Pen was staring at Shinji for a while there. Yeah, he was staring out of confusion, but he was still staring.
