I downloaded the first 4 eps to try this series out and I really liked them. Does anyone know how many episodes there are? I hear it's near 100... that would make it a very expensive series to own on DVD. Are all the DVDs available? If not, when? Please give me as much information as possible! Thank you very much.

Please leave all discussion of illegally obtained episodes out of the forums...:)

They've only released the first 4 DVDs, each with 4 eps on them. Be prepared to wait for a while...and there are 100+ eps...I'm sure a true Kenshin afficionado can back me up here.

Heh, I didn't say where I got them now, did I?

Anyway, here's my shpeel on illegally obtained episodes (this should probably start a new topic but I'm too lazy!). DVDs ARE EXPENSIVE. Before I buy a DVD, I need to see at least a few episodes! It is my belief that it should be legal to post the first two episodes of any anime series to get people interested/hooked before they shell out the dough for the first DVDs.

Now really, if you've never seen any episodes of a series, and you're thinking about buying some new anime DVDs, what do YOU do? I wonder how many people on this board get a few eps here and there off the internet. Should we start a poll?

One more interesting bit.

A season is 26 eps, right? I think there were four RK seasons, and around 26*4 eps, or 104. If all the DVDs had 4 episodes, then there would be 26 DVDs. If each DVD was $23, then the total price would be $598 +tax!!!! Holy CRAP!

Is there a good place on the 'net to buy anime DVDs used??? That could save me a bundle. I've only got 18 or so DVDs so far, and just that cost me an arm and a leg. Thanks

As per the rules on http://animeboards.com/rules.php3
NO links to full episodes, anime mp3s, eva and other fan subs etc

I'm not jumping on you, mano. But you can't post links to anime episode downloads here. I don't disagree with you about DVDs being expensive. I hardly have any. But VHS prices aren't much different from DVD prices (for now), so blame the anime companies.

????? It can't be against the rules to post links to UNLICENSED FANSUBBED 100% LEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE anime!!! What am I not understanding?

I should at least get a little gratitude!

fine, i read the rules, CENSOR ME if you like!!!!!!!!!!

Fansubs help the world of anime grow and by censoring me you are only hurting this world! Oh well, I still have the link. Anyone who wants the link, email me. It's legal, you can't buy it in the US, no US company owns it, and you are just being an puppet of the evil censorship demon-monkies!

It doesn't matter if it's legal or not...do you know the details and letter of Australian laws, where this service is? The webmaster here, Eva2000, makes it a point to stay on the good side of anime companies so he has no threats to his site. Stop being so impudent, man. I'm not trying to stop your enjoyment of anime, you just can't post links like that here.

If you knew me, you'd know that I'm fully against speech censorship, but if it threatens the well-being of this site, then I have to say something about it.

okay, i see where you're coming from with the Australian laws thing. But I think you are misunderstanding something. Most anime companies WANT fansubs to be released in the US or AU before they officially release it to build a fan base. If no one knows what it is, they have no sales. That is also how petitions form to get anime licensed for another country's release- people watch the fansub, then sign the petition to influence anime companies!

As a rational person, I understand where you're coming from and what you're trying to say. If I was an anime company, I'd encourage the spread of my series as much as possible. But we can't make that generalization for all companies for every instance (I noticed the webmaster posted something about an anime getting aquired by a US company and he took it off the site, good for him  )...if it's against the rules for this discussion board, it's against the rules.

A rule is a rule. No links to episodes, period. We can hedge around the specifics of international copyright laws all we want, but the forum rules are there for a reason.
