Can anyone give me some details about the video game that the Lain anime was based on? Some screenshots of the game would be great... So far I've only been able to find vague references to the game...

I searched Ebay and found nothing. Usually there's one or two for sale.

I found another review here (http://www.sol.no/games/psgamer/pre_mis/serialel.htm), but it says the game came after the anime...use salt throwing techniques accordingly. :B:

that game looks awesome. i think i know a place semi-near my houser where i could get it :B:. it's aparently an rpg, seeing as its two discs long. and find it interesting that no one has said anything about the game play. oh well, take a look at the "SELs orgin" thread that i started.

I just picked up the first 4 episodes of Lain yesterday on DVD, I was in shock. It's an amazing series that makes you think. I would be interested in the game but is it available in english?

The game was released in '96, before the anime... However, one wasn't based on the other; they were developed concurrently. I have to admit, it would be fun to play as Lain. See someone you don't like? Delete them from existence.

I'm looking so hard for the link of the site...but well anyways I read that the game actualy is a story that explains the "story" of Lain the girl. Apparently I guess the game goes to explain some sort of accident happend to Lain when she was little and well the MIBs got involved, sort of an Akira influence if you get my drift.

I'll keep looking for ya guys, one thing I do know is it didnt have screenies, that I havent been able to find :(

I played the game and beat it. Basically, it's a net surfing game but in the different setting then a TV series. It goes through her life from age 11 to 14. Lain lives with her mother and father (no sister). She gets in some sort of accident and get a treatment from a psychiatrist at Tachibana Lab. But the psychiatrist is also sucked into the world of Lain and go berserk at the end. What I think is the game is like a pre-quel of TV series. By upgrading your system throughout the game, you'll be able to access almost every file. If you get to access all movie files, the ending will become into a 5 minutes movie. The most exciting scene is where a girl kills her lover (sponsor?) and herself with a gun. If you really like Lain, play it. If you don't, don't even think about it. That's my opinion.




Umm... yeah if I had to learn Japanese this would be the reason right here :D
