Having just recently watched the last episodes of the TV series, i was left wondering:"what was that?" So many of the things said in that last episode really have a lot of meaning and truth. anyone care to talk philisophical on these episodes?

I can't really help you with your question since I am watching the series in Japanese when I don't know a thing Japanese except for -moshi moshi- hehe! But I do get some gist of the story which brings up this question! Which and where is the real Rei!?! I have a couple of theorys but i'll let you think it thru first. Have a nice day.

My theory about Rei is that She is Yui's Clone.
When Yui dies rei shows up soon after someone (i forget who) says that they look *very* much alike.
What do u think?

During ep. 26 of Evangelion I think that Shinji realizes his own self worth and realizes that he's worthy of living and existing, he pretty much learns to understand himself and take care of himself with the aid of all of his friends and their questions. After his descoveries he realizes that he doesn't have to be so self concious and demur and that he can be himself... this is only my thought, but I think it's correct ^^ -Asuka

The point to episodes 25 & 26 of Neon Genesis Evangelion were basically Hideaki Anno's personal vision of Evangelion. It also is meant to fit in with End of Evangelion in the way that they take place during it. Confused yet? you see the episodes shows the final coming to grips with the truth about one's self or Complimentation of each of the main characters in the story. Misato realized that she was just like Shinji and would run away into meaningless relationships in an attempt to spite her father who she loved/hated so much. This was done while she was about do die from her gunshot wound. It even showed her laying down with a gunshot wound in the series. Askua's complimentation occured when they put her in Eva 02 and dropped it in the bottom of the lake. Notice how it shows Eva 02 underwater in a fetal position with Askua inside? It was this coming to grips with herself that allowed her to pilot Eva 02 against the Eva Series(5-13). Rei's occured in her mind just as she was about to initiate the third impact. This was the reason for her betraying of Gendo and initiating of the Impact herself. Finally Shinji's occured within his mind while the impact was occuring and Rei was communicating with his mind(who do you think was asking all of those on screen text questions?). It was this final realization that he is an individual that was responsable for his drastic decision not to join the masses and to break away from the third impact. A sure sign of how far he had come in such a short time is it not?

she could be replaced by another. The present Rei is the third one. The first was killed by Dr.Akagi Naoko; the second was killed in her
battle against the 16th Angel. Although the personalities of these 3 Rei are different from each other, this is due to the environment.
Their soul is one and the same. Also, it seems that this soul was somehow derived from Lilith.
At the final stage of the Complementation Program, she betrayed Gendou, returned to Lilith out of her own judgement and handed the
future to Gendou’s son—Ikari Shinji. Birth date unknown."
The only thing this doesn't explain for me is the instance in the first episode where Shinji sees Rei, glances away, and Rei dissapears. Does this have anything to do with her angel status?

My interpretation-(rei appearing inthe first episdode to shinji before they ever met) The short form
this is a memory. time is not linear. something deep inside shinji has already experianced third impact.The future is not determined(preset or unalterable) it is up to shinji to create the Existance he will ultimatly be. the conscious mind can not grasp this yet but it does have some sort of grasp of rei(who seems to be the key to it all- i have not seen the movies).
it is a lot bigger than mearly reis angel status
it is too late at night for me to really be discussing this. If anyone here has some knowing of Qabalistic terms it would be a lot easier for me to say it that way

There is a theory that says that rei was made with not only Yui's DNA but with Lillith's too. This could explain how Rei has an AT-Field in episod 24.
