Well, I've got the Sailor Moon (fansubbs) of half of the R series up to the end (ep 200, I believe) but have yet to watch them.

Anyways, I liked the S series, from what I've watched of it. And it's an alright series, but I don't really have the time to watch it. I'll probably like it more after I've watched the entire series. . .or hate it more, but I have a lot of other anime to see first.

i've watch the sailor moon from the beginning to the sailormoon ss, i found as i watched that it is every predictable, almost every episode ends the same way; scouts in big trouble, get beat a little, someone comes out and saves then they blast the enemy, the end. its not at that i hate it, its just boring at times.

Okay well I'll tell you why I like it...

The Fantasy: I'm a teenage girl. A Leo, even. I know what it feels like to wish you were special. It's called Magical Girl syndrome. To find out you were a princess of an ancient kingdom; to find out that you have magical powers; to find out you can fight evil and make a difference; to find out you have comrades, which brings me to my second point

The Team Effort: Everyone's got their own strengths, their own weaknesses, their own special episodes, their own life stories, their own romances, their own powers and planets and mythology. They work together, they are best friends, and more importantly, they belong. This is a big deal for teenage girls. I would love to be part of a group like this (this is getting more like The Fantasy)

The Mythology: I love mythology. And astrology. I love the intricate way in which Naoko Takeuchi has blended elements of each in the creation of her characters. The fact that Rei is Sailor Mars, controls fire, and is an Aries (ruled by Mars and a fire sign), and that Makoto is Sailor Jupiter, controls lightning, is the biggest of the inners and is a Saggitarius (ruled by Jupiter/Zeus, the biggest planet, and the god who throws lightning bolts) etc etc. Even the blood types match the personalities (in Japan they believe in blood types the way Westerners believe in astrology). It's just very cool.

The Romance: I'm a romantic at heart. A good love story will get me every time. Usagi and Mamoru are a good love story. In fact, Tuxedo Kamen was my first crush (yes, it is possible to have crushes on anime characters). I have a big poster of him on my wall. When he finds out she's Sailormoon, and she finds out he's Tuxedo Kamen, and then he gets *searches for word* splintered by the ice crystal, and My Only Love starts playing, and she turns into the Moon Princess... *sigh* What a moment. What a song. What a love.

The Whole Uranus/Neptune *Surprise*: This cracks me up. Absolutely love it.

The Villians: They are simply too cool!! Especially Galaxia, ep 200 was just awesome.

Regarding filler episodes:

Now, I know that of the 200 episodes produced, a lot were filler, monster-of-the-day episodes. But if you look at them, a lot of them do contain storyline elements which are crucial to the plot, or important character development. And you can't tell me that the same can't be said about the middle six or so episodes of Evangelion. Angels did start to get boring after a while. Granted, it wasn't to the same extent as Sailormoon, but NGE only went for 26 episodes.

Okay, this is why I really like Sailormoon. Any replies??

i still think that there aint anything to discuss in Sailormoon - the only thing "supposedly" good about it are the short skirts - i prefer real women w/ short skirts thank you! :D

I'm a fan,
But I still have yet to see the whole thing, all of the episodes, and yes it does get a little tidious(don't worry I can't spell)at times... but just because they are Sailor scouts doesn't mean that is there whole lives.
If you are seeing it on TV then they do take alot out, like the one where chad gets his heart stolen in the S series...
so we are still missing alot...but if you are seeing it in japaniese then good, you won't miss a thing...
Oh and about the skirt thing, well, I don't want to see adults running around in sailor suits fighting crime...but maybe because I'm a girl...hummmm...

I am a...fan I guess. It is funny and I love Shoujo anime. It is much more tolerable than...Dragonball. I very much despise that anime. Enough...is anybody obbssesed about Sera Muun to know the birthdays of the characters if you please.

I like dbz , but I can understand why you might not like it.

In dbz the fighting is always the same, goku and gang meet people who are stronger, get their ass kicked, then they somehow find more energy charge up and fight, and then kick the ---- out of enemy.

Much like sailor moon heheh... :D

Hi Y'all

New here, but I thought I would jump in with an observation. RE: Repeatitive episodes. This technique is used to streach story lines in order to fill an entire season. Be it SM,DBZ, even a live action "serial-epic" like Babylon5 or The X-Files. If you distill any season's progress along the epic story, you would only have about 6 hrs of material. Programers have to fill (US TV season) 13(1/2hr ep.) to 26 (1hr ep.) hours. Also, a writer, in each episode, has to produce and resolve a conflict,or tension and at the same time build the series thread of tension toward the final resolution. Otherwise the viewer feels unfulfilled by the experiance until the tension is resolved. Unresolved tension from an episode (a cliff hanger) can only be used sparingly or the viewer tires of the stress and turns away.

As for me. I'm always a sucker for the questor/messianic epic. So a great deal of anime appeals to me. I enjoy watching the different approaches and handling creative minds have tried.

Sailor moon has heart but it could use a few changes, say like new fighting sequences and such, the stories need to be unpridicable and twisting. I love sailor venus :inlove:

Well ChibiAsuka, I have to admit that to some the "substance" may not be readily apparent. My first glance at the series came when I would flip on Cartoon Network to wait for another toonami show (I can't remember which at the moment)while I was working. After a couple of minutes I thought "BFHD" and when back to work. I pretty much ignored it in the backround for a couple of days of this until one of the character's say's something like "we have to find the princess". (first season - Even DIC couldn't hide that)That perked up my ears and eyes. "Hmm.." I thought "...sounds like we may have a questor epic here." and I started paying more attention. The epic storyline is so subtly presented that one has to give it chance or they won't "get it". So try to forgive the mear mortals.<G>
