Okay this will make an interesting question for discussion, why can only children born around the time of the impact can pilot the Evas ?
What makes, Shinji, Asuka, Rei, Touji and I suppose Kaoru (i like the spelling this way ) so special ?
Is it correct the Eva mass production series uses a dummy plug ?

Well this has something to do with the fact that all of the pilot's mothers seem to be in the Eva's. Except for Rei and Kaworu who could control thier Eva's because they are either part or entire Angels. This question is never really explained clearly and is left up to us to ponder. Also just for the record The Evangelion Mass Production Series 5-13 use a Kaworu dummy plug system just like the old dummy plugs used Rei clones. Seele must of cloned Kaworu and put him in the dummy plug

Thanks Capt Jake, it does seem that there is no clear explanation but yours is probably the closest i have come across....
The dummy plug using Kaoru was one mean and vicious operator when the Eva mass production series went and ripped Asuka apart .... I haven't see the full movie only clips and from the images i gathered for my End of Eva gallery...

Yeah, so is it that the Eva mass production series regenerate themeselves faster than Eva units 00, 01, 02 ?

I know i have seem somewhere the birthdates of the Children, but i can not remeber then )the only thing i do recall is that Rei's bd is false and that she is about 9 years old)
Could someone send me a copy of these dates? My question is if any of the Children are born before second impact (13 sep 2000).
I also thought that the mothers of the children gad to have some connection with project E, but i do not see everyone in class 2-A fitting this (though i am sure they all are motherless)
Which brings me to an off the topic question
What does that 2-A mean. In a Tenchi Muyo manga Ryoko gets caught out cheating (very funny) any we see her out side a door holding two pales with 2-C written on them (she is in a school uniform and it hints that this is some sort of punishment) we see Rei scrubbing floors with the 2-A pale (i mean pail?)

In response to the Eva's regenerating thing the answer is yes they can. But not as fast as 5-13, 5-13 could do it in battle which made up for their lack of combat experience. The other Eva's take time to regrow. Unit-01 was able to pull of an instant regeneration by taking the arm of the 14th Angel(Zeruel)and putting it in place. The tissue instantly bonded. as to the birthday's I can't help you too much A T H. All I know is that Shinji's birthday is in June and Ritsuko's birthday is November 21st(same day as mine so that's why I remembered) I do believe that Kaworu was born on the exact day of the second impact however so ya know, the rest is history.

I was thinking that they could only pilot if they were born after second impact took place. I must admit its not a question i think i can shead any light on.

Mind you this info comes from my somewhat basic knowledge of Japanese. so if anyone can confirm?

Well, my guess is that 2-A, 2-B, 2-C, etc are just random letterings. Also, cleaning isn't a punishment, its a rather clever way to keep the school clean. If students have to clean their rooms up obviously you won't be finding gum being put under desks, people writing on them, etc. Its a clever solution to an age old problem

jasdf: man that brings back old memories in high school back in Sydney.... our maths teacher made us responsible for the desk we sat at so we had to clear it up once a week....
mind you it wasn't that long ago in Year 7 - hmmm i think it was 1989 !!

In Asia, Korea and Japan I know, not sure about any of the other countries, use the number-letter system as classroom numbers. For example, 5-A means like Fifth Grade, room A. I think...

I dont know where i heard this but, isnt all the students in class 2-A all candidates for piloting evas? im not to sure... Also wasnt Rei a clone of Ikari Yui?

about the evas having something to do with the mothers...i dont think this is likely because its only eva01 and eva02. mass produced evas dont have this (like the one toji was in) and eva00 is linked to ritsukos mother? i cant remember.
just one other thing...are the children in 2-A all japanese and how exactly do they get them all in the same class...surely some of them must have had to move to be in japan.
its not really that the pilots have to be born around the second impact to pilot eva but the fact that they have a better sync ratio..what is this anyways?

All the students in class 2-A have no mothers, thats why its linked and the synch ratio, well i'm not to sure what that is, but i think it has something to do with the activation of the evas...
