well, i havnt seen Perfect Blue - on a scale of 1-10 w/ 10 as the highest, how would you rate it?
as for X, many people i know who have seen the movie advised me to stay away from it, and so i did :D

I'd give PB a 9 1/2, maybe even a 10. It's a real masterpiece if you understand that it's a PSYCHOLOGICAL
thriller, much like hitchcock. and the dub is decent so you really should pick it up. X is probably a 5 or 6. It was EXTREMELY confusing, and the dub was like a godzilla movie. But the sub is coming out soon, so I reccomend that you rent it then and check out the purty colors :)
9 1/2 eh? quite high... what type of anime is it (aside form the psychological thing you just said) - but pls try to aviod spoilers! :D
as for the X, wellllll, you seem to be the first person who recommends it! - based on my friends' opinion, even the sub is a no-no! :)

Perfect Blue gets 8 and 1/2 stars.
It is an anime that could almost as easily have worked as an acted film. It was animated realistically with the cast looking very Japanese. There is no weird coloured/styled hair in this film.
It is about a young girl pop star, the glamour life and the attention it attracts, particularly from a few real otakus.
It has suspense, brutality and some really shocking moments. Edge-of-yo-seat-stuff.
Perfect Blue is an outstanding movie--
"Kid, you're 14. Why are you in here?"
"Eh?"
"THERE ARE AGE LIMITS. How did you watch that movie if you're 14!?"
"Oro..?" :::sweatdrop::

Anyway, I can't see why you're all giving X such a bad review.
In order to understand that movie, you _REALLY_ have to have been reading the manga from the beginning. X came out mainly to be viewed by the fans of the manga, and as it is, it holds a stand-alone storyline from the comic series. Especially as the ending is to be different than in the film. I'd in a heartbeat give it a 10 (then again, I'm a long-time manga fan, too...)
If that confused you, then the X TV Series hopefully will clear some things up as soon as it comes out.
But I have a question...
..how many of you saw the DUB of X...? O.o

Perfect Blue is a nice example of what I wish would happen to all the Boy/Girl Teeny Bopper Pop Groups we have been plauged with

i saw perfect blue subtitled and i thought that it was O.K.. i mean,i thought the anime was very original and everything and the animetion was great but i couldn't really get into the story.i also thought that Mima was kind of a sissy and she could have done some smarter things in the movie.
but i love the films atempt at something different in anime(i wan't to see more of the likes of it in the future).
i give perfect blue a B OR a 8 out of 10.
As for X,i thought the animation was completely boss and the story was good but the movie felt very condensed because it was made out of a billion volume manga.i also thought the dubb left alot to be desired.i saw this movie in march in theaters.
i would give X an A- and a 9 out of ten.

Perfect Blue is a must-see. It deserves easily 9 stars, IMO.
I have never seen X and I'm not really interested to, because most people are not very enthousiast about it.

i need to see perfect blue. i saw x and it was kinda dissapointing. they tried and shoved all the manga stuff into a short movie. ive heard that their going make a tv series of x, and this time it will be better then the movie and no cutted parts which were in the movie.
Indeed! Perfect Blue is a must-see, so i give 9 stars :D

Perfect Blue is excellent...I like the way the weirdness sort of creeps up on you..I love the way you are made to feel like Mima, in that you are never sure exactly what's going on. The animation and imagery are excellent, as is the music. "This is take 2!!" :)

I forgot to say: watch it with a friend, because speculating about what happened is half the fun!

::grins:: I agree with most people here. Although VERY confusing, Perfect Blue was pretty awesome. I give it a 9 or 9 1/2 stars. I had to watch it a few times to fully understand it though. The movie X...::sighs:: X had a pretty decent plot line, but as I said in one of my other posts, they try to cram WAY too much into it. They should have made it longer... I give it 7 stars, because...well, I have my reasons...The graphics were awesome, but the fight scenes were too quick.

Perfect Blue is a stunning anime..., a really good psycological thriller..., the animation is amazing, & the plot is first rate..., a truely cool film...,
X The Movie has awesome animation..., but I found the story to be boring & tedious in the extreme..., it took me 3 attempts to watch it all the way through..,

Ahhh. . . perfect Blue is an example of what you get when you blend in various things such as an all around great movie and a killer soundtrack and music score. . which makes it all but very delightful and gratifying.
As for X, to tell you the truth. . . I seriously agree with Hi-chan. I thought it was wonderful. . though maybe just a tad condensed and short, but the animation was superb and I thought it was nice to see a little realism in the fighting scenes. . . where the enemy and heroes aren't "gods" and stand up to everything thrown at them.
Eitherway, yes, the tv series will be very much anticipated and I have really high expectations of it. . 'specially since it is first of all, "X/1999" .. and also that it's a CLAMP product. The designs are wonderful in the movie and I was delighted to see one of my favorite bands X-Japan take their own part in the movie with their song "Forever Love". You haveta read the manga in order to fully understand everything and get deeper character depth and all the other aspects of the plot and etc.
I suppose I am biased towards anime and manga. . so i would seriously give both titles a 10/10.

Where the hell did this thread come from? I made it almost a year ago!
Well, i saw Perfect Blue last weekend, when i was at my cousin's in Montreal. I watched it on DVD with a big surround system, subbed, and it was REALLY good. :D Though i don't see it as being so confusing as some make it to be. I mean in the end, i didn't really have to think a lot to figure out what happened.

I saw Perfect Blue a while ago I thought the movie was very good Just i think it had to much nudity and I didn't really get what was happening I couldn't tell whether the whole thing was a dream or not, but I really liked Perfect Blue especially when she started going psyco and stabbing her victoms:evil: C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Anime GIF\grrr.gif
