Does it bother anyone else that Gai dies in the third episode? i mean, he was the funniest character!! please tell me if the series gets any better, i'm really mad at them for killing him off. mad at who? i don't know. i'm just mad. and then what's his face and what's her face get together way too quickly... hmm... i can't even remember their names... :bawling:
well i'm done complaining... :| for now.
so, DOES the series get any better? i'd like to know before i get more of it.

no, it did not bother me when he died cause he got annoying always refrencing every attack with Gekigan and the series gets better and funnier.
I 2nd GEKIGANGER 3's opinion. Yes the series stays very funny and the plot moves along nicely (although a little confusing at times). I also liked Gai, but believe me the other characters more than pick up the humor level. the Yurika, Akito, Megumi, Ryoko love square is too funny. You have to see the episode where they end up going to the beach. Its on DVD #3. When they all make him home cooked meals. I wont spoil it but those scenes are laugh out loud funny.

I like the fact that they killed him right away.... it drove home a very important point (war is bad) and anyone can die at any time, so treasure the time you have with them.
Gai getting killed showed the serious side of the series.
Are you talking about Akito and Megumi getting together?
It was kind of strange they hooked up so fast, but maybe
it was because of the moment.
I do think you should watch the rest of the series. I haven't
seen it all, but I'm up to the fourth DVD, still waiting for the
rest of it. The story takes a drastic change and you'll not
gonna believe what happens. Just watch it and I bet you'll
thank me later.

It's a fantastic series, so yes, you should see the rest. The ending is one of my favorite endings (besides Lodoss War) and on top of that, it's worth seeing the series just to see the movie!

Yes, it gets better. A lot of new characters are introduced in episodes 4-8 and they are very cool.
i loooooveeed gai so much! when he was shot i was so hoping for him to recover...but instead he died :( . that really upseted me and i just stopped watching the show for a week because i was so angry he died. he was my favorite character... :(
the show is still deffiniantely worth watching.

Heh...Gai's death definitely shocked me...I've never seen a character killed off that fast (unless they were some stupid grunt or something (Not to say Gai wasn't O_O)). IMO, I think they did it a bit too fast though, the death would have been a bit more meaningful had they actually given him a bit more time to make an impression on the audience, but hey *shrug* Sure as hell wasn't predictable....

I totally agree in that it drove home the point that war isn't all fun and games. Plus I thought it was very touching how in Ruri's monolog after that episode she thanks Gai for all he's done.

Watch the rest of Nadesico without a doubt. I'm waiting for DVD 4 and I just can't wait to see what happens next. The whole series contains enough comedy, action and mystery to keep me absolutely riveted to my seat. I'm just waiting to see whether it can keep the pace up and eclipse Macross Plus as the "Space Opera" epic of choice, on the comedy front only Dragon Half can beat it and only Slayers can match it.

I was Devistated when Gai died...it was just so sad!!!!! I did quit watching the show, but I might continue, personally the new characters seem, well, kind of annoying. Hopefully they get better though.

Alright!! Someone couldn't take the time to place "(spoilers)" at the end of the title of this thread! I haven't seen ep3 yet. I'm still trying to get the rest of the series. That's okay though. I'm now a little more pushed to get the rest of the anime than I was before.
aa gomen gomen! !!! I just forgot. I guess I though since it was so early in the show... i dunno. anyway, sorry.

Quite frankly, despite his sudden passing, the episodes later on became really (and I meant, REALLY) funnier then expected. Even though there is an expected fighting scene and all, but you're not going to believe what the enemy looks like :D. But I'm not going to spoil it for all....

What the enemy looks like... yeah that caught me off guard. Speaking of funny moments i thought it was rather funny why they were singing (i will say nothing more or else this would turn into a spoiler)

Gai just could'nt be developed...he was just too loud and kept shouting abuse at everyone. i don't know why Akito like him so much, i don't rember them having a conversation without Gai calling him a dork.:lol:

how can anyone say Gai was annoying!? i was angry when i read some submitted fan reviews on some site, and most of them said the things they hated about it were Gai, Gekiganger, and Ruri. i was like... what the hell!? those are the best parts!!! but yes, you should keep watching it, and no, i dont think it's funnier without Gai
Gai would have been better if he had something a bit more suttle about him..like if he was gay or had a wife and kids waiting for him back at home.
i mean he could have had any woman he wanted on the Nadesico, but you never got to see hoe he was with women. If by episode 18 he was still shouting "All hail Gekigengar!" as soon as Meegumi just said "Hi" his character would juyst spoil the adult theme.

Nadesico rocks, it is a very popular anime. You are not a true anime fan until you have seen Nadesico. All the way while watching it I enjoyed it (even if I did get lost somewhere along the line) and it was even in rm!
Anyhow, keep watching :up:.
