Ok... a kind of lame question:
why is Second Impact was called "second"?
I'm assuming that since eveyone was told that it was a meteor that it was similar to the meteor that killed off the dinasours.
IF that is so, why is the "Third Impact" called that if the "second" was a lie? I don't remeber the bad-thing-that-will-happen-if-the-angels-get-Addam being called anthing in the serise (I have yet to see the movies).
Is this supposed to be some hint that the dinsours were killed off by some Angel-related "Fist-Impact"?

would think of it as a meteor impact when in actuality an "impact" is just some great cosmic event where a race is either wiped out or the world is changed drastically."

Just curious though: What WAS second imapct?
All we see the "wings" and the "Blood Sea".
Was it just climate chages fom the melting of the pole?

Opps forgot to answer your 2nd Questions

2nd impact occured by Misato father doing test for the super solenoid theory, which woke up Adam who lay dormant their. This caused Adam to get $%$^ed off and punished mankind, by exploding, this melted the polar ice caps flooding the world killing 50% of the earths population. Gendo described this as a clensing of the planet. During the process of 2nd Impact Adam was brought back to its embro state. I'm not sure why maybe it was planned, that way, the dead sea scrolls could of said how to attain Adam and use him to bring around 3rd Impact. Maybe just Adam used up all its energy and was shriveled back to Embro state. The wing of light are, well.... thats a long story and I don't want to bring it up yet. Eva 01 developed the same "wing of light" in "air".

hehe, i loooove spoilers on Evangelion... one of the reasons i love this message board with all the good eva discussions going on (apart from the fact i own it )
spoilers for me make me crave NGE even more, especially the movies - although it's been a whole year since i watched the tv episodes...
of course it's a good idea to mention in the subject or post that there's spoilers

I looked for this page for disscussions not spoilers.If I wanted a spoiler I'd download the movie transcript and be done with it.
I guess I'm a little "spoiled" by newsgroups where they would put *Spoiler* warnigs for major stuff.
I had ASS-UME-D that the discussion page would stick to information covered only in the serise, whereas the movie board would be more in-depth disscussions.
Don't take this as any kind of attack, I am new to this board, but I don't like assumptions in regards to my actions.

I personally don't even know why their a two sepearte threads. Because talking about EVA always will lead into the movies, because the movies are a hot point of discussion which relate to the evangelion series.

Yeah Access, the reason why separated the forums was to lessen the chance of movie spoilers dominating the Eva discussion forum.
I realise alot of people that visitor this message board are actually Australians so they would be seeking eva movie info and/or more explanations and insights into the Eva tv series.
Once the movies come out i have the option of merging the 2 forums for Eva discussions and Eva movie discussion into one big forum.
But you may find that the current members are use to the structure the way it is...
I can't wait until Ezboard upgrade this message board again... cause there will be alot more cool and neat features for me and members to use

The Impacts were just the world changing explosions. First impact may have been Humans who slowly regenerating over time. It may have been Adam who crash landed and over time made human's. It may have just been a meteor. The second Imapct was supposedly a meteor. The secret agency personnel were told that it was a mysterious explosion, but really it was an N2 mine used to put Adam in his foetel form. The third impact began with Human instrumentality. That is the limit of my knowledge.

Back to the original question:
Would anyone know if the WORD "impact" is the direct translation of whatever Japanese word they used for what we keep callin second/third impact? Would there be another definition of the same word?
And where in the TV serise do they refer to "third impact"?

The teacher always is talking about the disater which is known as "second impact".
