What is the best music you have ever heard in a video game?

Mine would definitely have to be the Final Fantasy music.
I just recently purchased some FF cd's that had songs remixed, i HIGHLY recommend them.

(4)Symphonic Suite
(5)piano collections
The "pray" cd and "love will grow" cd's have the songs in vocal and are awsomely done. You should get them if you don't have them already.

FFIV had definitely the best in-game music, i still enjoy listening to my midis toroughly, followed by Shining Force 1, Chrono Trigger and FFVI. Anyway to the CDs...

I also realised there's lots of other pretty good overlooked VG music, but i mostly only have midis right now...

I've got the 2 CD import of the Final Fantasy Tactics music...very good stuff. The Wipeout XL and Wipout 3 soundtracks are also very good.

Is there a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night soundtrack?

I think so, i didn't find it, but i didn't look very toroughly^^; (only a minute on one anime store wich had some video games OSTs too). I remember seeing it in the import stores ads at the end of video games magazines, i'm pretty sure of that.

Yah, i love anime and game cd's.
i have about 50 now and the ones that you guys have mentioned are some of my favs, like Castlevania and Final Fantasy Tactics.
I also like some of the Wild Arms and Xenogears music too, there pretty good.

I also enjoyed the Tekken Tag soundtracks as well as the Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania, Shogo, Killer Instinct(remember that game? :D ), Final Fantasy, DOA2, and Resident Evil 2 OSTs.

1. SaGa Frontier II OST -- At this moment, my absolute FAVORITE of all video games soundtracks
2. Valkyrie Profile Arranged album -- the ost was good, but the arranged just blew me away
3. Final Fantasy Tactics- I don't think I need to Explain why
4. Final Fantasy IV (Any arrangement or OST) -- Every time I hear an ff4 song, i get all nostalgic and start crying ^^;;

That's easy. To me it's the OST's for Wild Arms and Wild Arms 2nd Ignition. Michiko Naruke is one of the best composers in Japan!

Grandia OST - I've been listening to this a lot recently. Some of the most inspiring and rousing music ever heard in a game.
FF9 OST - There's lots to sink your teeth into, and it's almost all outstanding. Too bad the Japanese version (which I have) doesn't come with BOTH versions of Melodies of Life... :(
Xenogears Cried - Yasunori Mitsuda is one of the most talented men alive. 'Nuff said.
FF6 OST - I bought this AGES ago, and I still listen to it. A classic in every sense of the word, especially the final boss theme.
Metal Gear Solid OST - Haven't got all of it, but it's great. Even if it only had the Main Theme and 'The Best Is Yet To Come', ti would still be worth it. :D

My two favorite game OST"s are Final Fantasy 6 and Xenogears. Xenogear shad such great music, and FF6 has music tha tprefectly fit the tone of the game.

My favorite game songs in games are "Aria Di Mezzo Carattere" in FF6 (The Opera), and "Flight" in Xenogears (Played when MAria launches iN Seibsehn during the attackon Shevat, when CHu CHu gorws for the first time, and whenthe Elements combine gears).


Earlier in this topic someone asked if Symphony Of The Night had an OST, don't know if it was answered, but Yes, there is one. Has every song from the game, except for the "Special" Track 02 found on the actual game itself if you put it in a CD player, however, you can rip that song to MP3 by putting the game OST in your PC. ANimenation has the CD avalible, here.

I have three Video Game OSTst hough they are just accumalting dust as we speak.

I have the Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix and 6th Mix OST and the Sambe Da Amigo OST (that one I listened to once and well its never coming out)

Now im on the hunt for the Guitar Freaks 8th Mix OST, damm i love the music :)

Only ones I have are FF7 and FF9, and I think both are sweet. The FF9 one isn't quite as strong as FF7's for some reason, but it has a few excellent BGMs and Melodies of Life is nice... and there're really only one or two FF7 songs I don't like. The rest rock. One Winged Angel is still one of the coolest game songs I've ever heard. *_*
