Well i'll cut to the chase!
Since the Eva's need to be sync'ed with (if you read sync'ed out loud it sounds right),
why are there control sticks inside the @#%$ pit why don't the children just use straight out mind
control?
Plus what is the aim of the plug suits? Do they increase the ability of the pilots to sync with
the eva's? or are the just for heating? (shinjis suit gives out when he was in the sea of deourc)

Sorry about the title, I just decided to do it Mr.T style. The answer to your question aint to hard to figure out. The handgrips are there to engage the A10 nerve(not Nerv) connection. You wouldn't want to think something by accident now would you? Notice how whenever they want to make a move they pull them in or push them forward. This sort of unlocks the connection. Also being an Eva pilot is hard work and hard to concentrate for that long. The grips are also rigged to certain funtions. Notice when Shinji fired his energy rifle he hit the trigger on the handgrip. Also later in that episode Misato told him to hold Eva on it's current commands and eject the plug(to let Touji and Kensuke in). It's a pretty safe bet that it was one of those buttons on the inside of the handgrip that did that. Also they have those flip down targeting screens for firing weapons like the positron rifle. That screen is probably triggered by one of the buttons on the grip. So the grips are to unlock the nerve connection and to activate functions in the Eva like the targeting computer. As for the plug suits, those are there to keep the pilot comfortable and it regulates body temperature. It also allows the techs to keep a monitor on their vital signs. So the plug suit basically keeps and monitors their vital signs. anyother questions can be taken to my Ask Captain Jake anything about Evangelion section of this very message board.
