The Lady of Pharis

Has anyone else read this manga? I did and I LOVED it! It's about six people. Flaus; a Pharis warrior priestess, Beld; a mercenary soldier, Wort; a powerful sorcerer and Belds traveling companion and Fahn; leader of the Holy Knights of Valis. Also the dwarf king Flaibe and an elven girl (we don't catch her name in the first book) join the four but during the first book the dwarf king is recovering from his wounds and the elven girl appears right in the end. I'm not sure if any of these guys have made appearences before in LW ( I heard that Beld and Wort have) since I have had the misfortune of not catching the anime and not having bought the manga yet. This is my first Lodoss War.

I've only read the first part of the series but the plot (while being fairly average D&D style) seems fairly interesting. A demon lord gets summoned in Moss, southwest corner of Lodoss and Flaus hires Beld and Wort to help her on her quest. When she returns to Roid, she finds out that the Sacred Weapons of Sorcery have been stolen and leave with Fahn to recover the weapons. I'll leave the plot to that but if you find this manga, I tell you it's worth buying it. I loved it.

Lady of Pharis the manga is based on the Lady of Pharis Novels, which were written as a side-story to the original 7 novels Mizuno wrote for Record of Lodoss War.

In Record of Lodoss War, both the anime and the books, they talk about an event which happened 30 years ago when the King of the Demons was in control of Marmo. The king of the Demons attacked Lodoss with great force, and the entire island suffered.

6 great heroes (actually 7, but only 6 according to legend) embarked on a trip to the island of marmo. They were Fahn, Beld, Wort, Neese, the Dwarf King Fleve, and an unknown woman who was actually Karla the grey witch. These 6 went to Marmo and killed the Demon King. Beld was the one who killed the Demon, and after he did, he picked up the Demon's sword Soul Crusher and was possessed by its evil power.

Beld, once a brave warrior, was turned into an evil tyrant who took control of Marmo.

The actual story of Record of Lodoss War is about Beld leading the marmo forces against Fahn and the rest of Lodoss. Beld is the villain in the first novel and in the first 8 episodes of the OVA series. Later, Beld dies and his follower Ashram becomes the main villain for a while.

In lodoss War you also see Fahn, Wort, Karla, and Neese. Fahn is obviously king of Valis. Wort lives alone in a castle far away. Karla has been travelling around causing wars. Neese lives in the Temple of Marfa in the town of Tarba in Allania.
