Shouldn't this be in other anime?
un!
i found both of the patlabor movies are pretty dull.. both have the usual mass government conspiracy coverup thing plot, and about 5 minutes of action between the two movies..
however, patlabor 2 has some damn nice visuals, and is a bit better all up.

I've rarely seen a more boring movie.
I thought it was a real yawn, myself.

yeah, patlabour is a bit on the boring side. Watch it, but you probably wouldn't want to watch it again afterwards so there's no point to taping it really.

The main problem with the Patlabor movies is that the director assumes that the viewer has been watching the OAV series & reading the manga, prior to watching the movies The movies don't introduce the chatacters properly, so that's probably why it can seem boring to some people.
I thought the movies were okay, if a little slow in places..., :)
Just saw it .. and well i really liked it...
I'll admit some part were a bit dull and dragged on, but otherwise it was good!
Hey! I really liked the movies. (Sure i had just finished reading the manga but..)

I liked them both (#1 a bit more), and I *haven't* read the manga or seen the OVAs...

I think Patlabor was ok and I haven't seen the manga or OAV either.
I only have the first movie.
I have heard from a lot of ppl that the second one isent that good. Whats yoour oppinion?

I think the first movie is more menacing than the second one, because of the unknown quantity of Hoba.
I also think it is more funny because of Azuma and Noa.
The second one is more political/pyschological, and therefore a bit dryer in tone. This makes it a bit slower, too.
Also, the first one you watch is more impressive, I suppose. Then you get used to the style and the second one isn't as novel.
