The library at my Uni has got the first 2 volumes of Slayers (the original series I think, where Lina first meets Gourny) subbed, and I love it so far. I've only seen the first three episodes, and one of the movies. So does it get any better? What's it like later, but no spoilers... :p

No spoilers, eh? Well, the series get funnier, the animation gets better, the charcters become more developed, and a good time is had by all who watch it. Go for the rest of the series, and you won't be disapointed.

Personally, Slayers is one of the best anime show ever!! It gets a whole lot more exciting and funnier.. it tries to get a bit romantic in Next, but it doesn't work too well.. rather it was even more hilarious... and in TRY it was great.. the animation improves season by season.. and Megumi Hayashibara's performance improved episodes by episodes. The new characters get more dimensions.. for a comedy show, there's not much dynamic characters.. but hey! It's a great anime anyway. I was crazy about it from 1995 to 1997.. when I've watched all that's been made of it.. and listen to all it's great songs by Makun and Megumi-sama. This is certainly a great show worth following as Poiupp X said.. but only on the 3rd episode? ~24 episodes per season.. wow.. good luck and good dragon slavin'! ^_^
(oops.. did lina use dragon slave yet.. sorry.. if that's a spoiler.. not sure)

Yeah, she's already used the Dragon Slave. And nuked that small village? Also did spooker in Dragon Spooker stand for anything. Or is it just someone who's so ugly they can scare a dragon by looking at it? And what series are there?

That old village chief was funny! :D

"I asked you save the village, NOT DESTROY IT!"

Slayers is a very funny series and it isgood animation.
Others say that the dub voices are bad, but I can't tell the difference, mainly because I have not seen the original version.

I have seen the first 3 volumes of The Slayers OVA, a few episodes of Slayers Next and the Motion Picture.

:up:Great Series:up:

In the sub I have it says Spooker is short for "Steps past out of clear revulsion". It doesn't spell quite correctly but you'll notice that when the dragon steps over her Gourry something like "You really are a dragon spooker after all".

SPOCR is close enough to spooker. They're pronounced the same way. BAD SUBTITLERS!!!!

Yeah this is a great series, from what I have seen you should enjoy this immensely. :)
This is what I have seen; Slayers, Slayers Next, Slayers Motion picture and three of the ova's. I have Slayers Try on order, can't wait to receive that one. :)

I"m still a newbie to Slayers. I want to watch the rest of the series but right now I'm concentrating on Evangelion.
