View Full Version : Big - O ... i am very intrigued to see what happens with....
i wonder what is going to happen between roger smith and dorothy. i think they like each other, but roger is dark and he can't show lover or something. and of course doroty is a robot so she doesn't understand love. but maybe she is a special robot and in the end she will turn into a human like pinochio. i know they have something between them....
i do quite like the show the music is what grabs me the most. that wasone of the grabbers in cowboy bebop for sure.

I agree with everything you said. I love the interaction between Dorothy and Roger. I also get more intrigued every episode to see what happened forty years ago. I'm also very happy to see that I'm not the only one who LOVES the music. It's so different, I think it's beautiful and every piece fits the moment. I LOVE this show but I think we're the only ones. Many others are too short sighted and closed minded to see the good in this show.
The last show just aired on CN (midnight run). I was just wondering what you guys thought of the complete series. It wasn't as straight-forward a series as I thought it would be.

That episode was AWESOME. I don't think it was the last episode though.

I'm so glad someone finally posted a good thread about the show. Until tonight, I enjoyed the show, but nothing special. Tonight's midnight episode now has really intrigued me and I'm very interested in where the series is heading. And that wasn't the complete series, my guess is we're not even at the halfway point yet **or maybe right on it, but no further**

Well my roomie and I did a web search and it seems that right now there's only 13 episodes in existence. Sorry gang. If there's more I'll certainly be happy though. We're both rooting for Dorothy and Roger to wind up together.

I think this show is a welcome change from the "normal" types of anime. Part of the reason I like it is because it's different. The music is different also, but good in it's own right. Plus I'm a fan of the Batman series, so I don't have a problem with the look of the show. I can't wait to see the end, which will probably be this comming Monday (I've been watching the 5:30 episodes). ;)

The whole series was fair in my opinion. What I don't like about the last episode is that it ends suddenly, which leaves you at a cliffhanger- what will happen next?
And the midnight run episodes are a few episodes ahead because of the Friday afternoon movie that is aired during Big O's time slot.
I also find it strange that the Big 'O' ended in such a manner. I think they could easily have made it a 26 episode series, since it was really picking up towards the end.
By next monday the afternoon show should wrap up as well, at that time I would like to ask what you guys thought was the story behind paradigm city, the mechs and the memories.

That wasn't the end. If so that was the worst ending I have ever seen. I don't think it is possible for an ending to leave you with that big of a cliffhanger. No writers could possibly be quite that stupid. They didn't answer any of the questions the show put forth.
Since this show seems to be made for American audiences it is very possible that episodes are still being made and that toonami is doing a seasonal thing.

After more extensive web searching it seems that more episodes of Big O are "tabled" for right now...in other words I don't think it flew too well in Japan and they just dropped it. From what I can tell it's not that they're not translating more it's just that there ARE no more. From what I could tell from discussion boards and the official site they're not planning to make more for awhile.
I think a series like Big 'O' would be significantly more successful in the US than in Japan. Maybe they will push to have a second season mainly for the purpose of airing it in the US. Although I am surprised that sunrise would cut a series like this, the show wasn't bad at all and was just getting better, especially towards the end.
Aparently the Manga is still going, so the story doesn't really end where it did in the anime. Although I really don't think that we will ever see any more Big O episodes, since the series has to be pretty successful to merit a second season, and the fact that the first season series was only 13 episodes doesn't bode well for the prospect of the sequal.

Continuation probably depends on how succesful the series appears to be on toonami.

I think Big O's great and is quite underappreciated. People think its a Batman clone, so they don't watch, when in actuallity its nothing like that. I've seen eps 1-12, I'll see 13 when Toonami airs it on monday. Dorothy's cool, so is the music, and the bad guys are fairly interesting, although we only really get 2 of them.

Maybe they might make a movie to answer all the question, instead of making more episodes which wastes more money. Though I would love to see more episodes, like other people said it didn't to do well so it looks like they might not spend the time and money on making more episodes. But maybe they can make a movie. But even then the movie may be a little stupid since it would be very rushed and confusing jus to answer the question that were put out on the series. Like how did Roger get the Big 0 and why the hell and how the hell were there giant mechs including Big O(!?!) destroying the city.
Damn, why do people not like the Big O!!!?? I like it better than all of the other toonami things, well besides Gundam Wing cuz it's longer. But my opinion could change if they make more Big O episodes.
how can he end up with a robot? is there some kind of way to make her human? or is she sorta like armitage? sorry if it sounds stupid.... just wondering......

thats what I was wondering. Did they ever find out anything about their memories. How does he know how to operate Big O. How did Roger get rich and where did his Butler come from. I've only seen about 7 episodes but I'll catch it next time around. Why only 13 episodes.:(
Is seems Sunrise decided 13 would be all they do. In fact, in Japan the text displayed at the end of 13th episode is "To be continued". If you watch the 13th episode on toonami you will realize that is replaced with "We have come to terms". The chief writer of of the anime series (Konaka Chiaki) wants to produce more episodes, but he can't do that without sunrises permision, so he has asked the fans to E-mail Bandai and CN to support the Big O. Maybe then Sunrise will be convinced to add more episodes, or maybe add a movie, or maybe write a blurb to all the fans to explain to them how the series ends.

episode 13 wasn't a particularly bad way to end the series. It sort of leaves the end to the viewer's imagination. And the main story ark about the memories was sort of answered, just not completely clearly.

Damn I was realy getting into this show to :( I was hopeing for the standard 26 eps but only 13 I know Im gona want more :(
oh my, was that the last show? how ------. it was an okey ending for the last show leaving things open just in case of there is a next season, but from what i have been reading. it doesn't look like there will be any more episodes. that quit sucks. i agree that it would do better in america, but i guess the people who decide if there gets to be anymore shows arn't really in america. i don't know, i would love to see more episodes without a doubt. i guess like most shows, i would always like to see more. i hope that the simpsons never stop getting created, and the animators/writers sons and daughters keep doing the show till i get old and die. i guess some shows are better off ending like that. it gets you more intrigued to watch more other shows to fix your fiending. i was just starting to like dorothy. it is a little cute for an anime....
