I got the DVD version of the tv series of Lodoss war not long ago and I really enjoyed the series alot. Well after seeing the whole series I heard about the OVA so I decided to order it at my local Suncoast and im going to go pick it up soon and I have a few quick question about it.
1. Do they have different people doing the voices for both the the sub and the dub or is it the same people that did the tv series?
2. In your opinion is the OVA's music better than the tv series? I loves the music from the tv series and I was wondering if the OVA's is good also.
3. I loved Parn and Deedlit and I was just wondering if they are just as cool as they were in the TV series.
Thanks in advance

I have no idea, i think they are different though, although I've only seen the sub.

The TV series has really beautiful music, especially Addeso e Fortuna, the oppening song. However, the TV opening is good too. I'd say they're equally good.

Even cooler actually, since the OAV focus on them much more. Keep in mind that the OAV is the original animation so it makes more sense if you watch that first
Overall, you should DEFINITELY get the OAV, you really won;t regret it, i promise.:p

The OVA series came out first, so you definitly should get it. It explains how Parn and Deedlit and everyone else met. You'll get to see the character Ghim that you may have heard about in the TV series. (In the beginning of the TV series, it says "Five Years after the Death of Ghim.")
Be aware that the OVA episodes 1-8 are based on the first novel, and follow it pretty closely except that the conclusion of the War of Heroes is just a LITTLE bit different, and Parn and Deedlit meet Shiris and Orson in Episode 8 (just because the Director wanted to put them in the series).
There are a total of 7 novels in the main story, and since you can't fit a story of 6 additional novels in 5 episodes, the last episodes of the OVA (9-13) feature modified versions of the Novel storylines.
You'll see Ashram attempt to claim the Scepter of Domination again, only in the OVA they already know that Shooting Star has it, and Ashram doesn't have the group he had in the TV series.
You'll also see Wagnard attempt to ressurect Kardis, only this time he needs to sacrifice Deedlit, not Neese, and Parn has to save her.
I suggest you see the OVA, it is really good. You should have seen it before the TV series in fact.
To answer your original questions, the Dubbed anime of the OVA and the TV series have MOST of the same actors.
The original OVA series had its actor cast. The TV series retained Parn's, Deedlit's, Slayn's, Leylia's, Ashram's, and shiris' (I think). Orson, Kashue, and Karla had to recieve new voices for the TV series, but don't worry, because Karla's voice is just a more menacing version of Leylia's voice for most of the OVA.
OVA opening is great, the music is also pretty good. The in-series music for both are pretty equal in my opinion, though I like the Opening for the TV series better.

Overall the OVA are far superior... Even though its older then the TV series (I think i'm right on this one) the animation style is just overall more consistent(personal Opinion). Music wise is debateable. I happen to like the opening theme of the TV Series. But if you had to pick one your better off with the OVAs'.

The voice actors are the same, the music is great.
One thing you MUST remember is that the second half of the OAVs is that due to the dangling story lines left in place, they needed some closure. What they did was take what would become the tv series from the Lodoss novels, delete A LOT of it, and fit in into the OAVs. This was done simply because they thought they wouldn't get the chance to do a tv series and what kind of an OAV leaves storylines that have a beginning but no middle or end?
The storyline that was started, by the way, was Wagnard's plot to ressurect Kardiss. In episode 5 of the OAVs (maybe 6), he makes contact with Kardiss and begins his scheme. After the War of Heroes closes, (I think episode 7) episode 8 introduces OAV version Shiris and Orson and the group frees Leylia from Karla's control.
The second half of the OAV should still be watched. Among many of the things you WONT find in the tv series...
-Parn gets "munchkin" with TWO magic swords at once (munchkin: a term used by roleplayers to describe 'power gamers', the type who make characters purely combat oriented)
-An incredibly beautiful closing credits song for the final episode
-A much more apparent statement about good, evil and neutrality
-You get to see Slayn and Leylia develop their romance
I personally love both the OAVs and TV series. I feel that the tv series had a better "How to Ressurect Kardiss" plot, because it makes it quite a bit more challenging. I feel the OAVs had, for the most part, better music (but only by a little.)
Remember, if you want to see Lodoss in the most "correct" (that is, staying true to the original novels and manga) fashion, watch OAV episodes 1-7, the second half of episode 8, then all of the tv series.
