Just a question: how many of you actually think that Martina is one of the best characters (Slayers, or not)?

Because Martina is definately my favorite character, and yet she hardly gets any credit for the series. Whenever you see pictures and stuff from Slayers Next only half of the time does it actually have Martina on it! The other half has "Sylphiel". She was only in there for two videos! Martina was there from the begging to the end! It just makes me mad.

OKay...Nobody has posted here yet so I'm gonna be keen and say,......*er*...*ahem*...sorry. yeah. I agree Martina doesn't get enough credit.

Martina is one of my favorite characters. It always bugs me that Slyphiel gets so much prominence on the boxes when she's hardly in the series.

I think considering that Lina had to put up with Naga for so long it's unfair that she should have to put up with Martina. Aside from the fact that Naga actually knows how to cast some decent spells (Martina manages some curses but that's all) doesn't everyone think they are excessively similar ? Both wear really tacky, revealing clothes and have awful laughs.

On the other hand, as Xellos points out, Martina tries very hard to raise money to fund her revenge against Lina. Despite her lack of competance or talent she still keeps trying her best.

Actually, she is fairly competent. Far more than Naga was, in my opinion. Her only faults are a tendency to fall in love at the drop of a hat and a complete inability to distinguish reality from fantasy.

Yeah, while Martina and Naga are alike with the way they dress and sugoi laughs, both have different motives: Martina wants to kill Lina, while Naga....I don't know what Naga wants. Also I love the way she kinda talking to herself while talking to Zolamaguster! I think it's so cool when it actually does something too. I feel very sorry for Martina for never getting her revenge, but she and Zangulus are the perfect couple!

Dryden-san, Martina can't actually cast any spells. Naga might blow them, especially when she is experimenting but she does possess actual spellcasting abilities.

Martina only posseses some limited ability with black magic curses which is fueled by her obsession.

Come to think of it I'm not sure who is a bigger klutz, Naga's mistakes tend to be more spectacular because she uses magic.

Martina is actually the character who grows and develops the most (next to Lina) in "Slayers Next."

At the start of the series, we see her as an arrogant, overconfident, egotistical and megalomaniacal spoilt aristocratic brat.

However, being deprived of material luxury, she is forced out of necessity to learn self reliance. Gradually she learns the value of caution, frienship, loyalty, and most importantly, how not to trust a man just because he is sexy. (Xellos, you devil!!)

Martina's most appealing aspect is her honest nature. Though this distastefully manifests in her overt displays of malice, it also postively manifests in her complete and utter devotion to those she loves. Her reminding Lina how precious Gourry is is nothing short of touching.

Martina is a somewhat selfish girl who redeems herself through an endearing honesty. Oh, and she cute and has a great body too!!
