This question might be a bit too mundane for all you Eva experts, but I can't help but wonder why Toji never ever ever wears his school uniform. He's always wearing those black trackies, even in school, while every one else wears their uniform.

could u explain the concepts behind the s2 theory (the physics behind it).
is it based on physics that we already know or is it a totally out there made up theory which would be impossible to make happen.
(never say never tho coz some guy said it was impossible to split the atom)

S2 theort was devised by Misato's Father. The theory was one to transfer matter into energy with a 100% success rate. This would supply near infinite power. Some say this was the reason behind the explosion of second impact, but I do not agree. The theory was never mentioned in the series. This is just imformation that I have collected from the video covers of the series. The formula is not known, but I would suspect it has something to do with e=mc (squared).

it's E = (delta) m c^2 ... this equation applies to nuclear reactions - nothing else. my only guess is the super solenoid (strong magnetic field generator) would be used to create a working ( >0% efficient) fusion reactor. all nuclear reactions convert matter to energy at 100% efficiency.
so, i still say its just a fancy sounding name. i think the s2 theory was mentioned in the series, in regard to the katsuragi expidition to antartica.

I think that it works by using an inverted AT Field to contain the reaction. As when the S2 Engine Prototype in Eva 04 malfunctioned it created a sea of Durak (Im not sure on the spelling) Much like the 12th Angel..

wasn't it agreed that the Second Impact was a release of heat/energy? they were playing around with those solonoids up at the pole.

yeah I dont believe that Katsurgai made a S2 engine he just created the theory of how it worked. When it was created they probably cloned Adam's S2 organ, they probably dont know how it fully works. As Ura said it created (possible) a paralell uiverse. So I dont find any reason why trying to justtofy how it works when it contains ideas such as that. It is like trying to explain how the EVA works... I am sure NERV arent sure... they just clone it.. as Misato said "Were forced to use things we dont understand".

i know this is way off track, but hey it's kinda interesting.
in fusion reactors, very hot gas plasma is contained in a thin ring by magnetic fields created by solenoids that wrap around in a ring shape (tomamak?). its the magnetic fields that "crush" the gas together, creating the heat snd pressure needed for fusion. a "super" (effiecient) solenoid could make creating these magnetic fields use less energy and mabey the reactor could make energy rather than use it.
ok.. thats all! just trying to stop mis-information. the point is we don't really know what the s2 engine is or how it works. i really don't think it has anything to do with fusion, i just thought of that as a posible real explination for the name.
now the katsuragi expidition occured before the second impact, and before nerv/geherin started making evas. either he came up with the theory of how angels get their energy without ever knowing of their existence, or geherin had either lilith or adam before that.
i tend to think they had found adam in antartica, frozen. they studied him, and katsuragi came up with the s2 theory. they maybey then tried the theory to "activate" him.??? i dunno.

I must say that this is sad that people are pondering and questioning a theory that was made up for a TV series. There is a name for people who do that, they are called Nerds. I find it okay to ponder and discuss mysteries of the series that have an answer but the S2 theory probably was just something made up by the writers without actually being theorized. They probably just said "we need some way to take Nerv-2 out of the picture so Unit-03 will go to Japan so how about we try to install a new experimental device, oh let's just call it S2, and it will explode and take branch 2 with it." You think they actually hypothesized a theorie to make it make sense? You people are the Evangelion equilvalent of Trekkies discussing things like the theory behind the warp engines on the enterprize. I agree with fasad that we should drop this whole thing. It most likely doesn't have an answer. nuff said!
