After much diliberation, I have come to post this message out of curiosity, is the 2nd impact actualy going to happen?
How many fans are going to wait for September to go by, hoping that they come out alive?
How many fans are going to hope the become Eva pilots?
How many fans are going to hope that there children are born 9 months after the 2nd impact?
How many fans belive that this anime is infact prophecy?
I'm very interested in finding out the answers to these questions.

After a bit of a straitening out by ATh, I've been told to share my views before asking anybody elses.
I don't belive that the 2nd inpact is going to occur, but I do belive that something important for the cource of evolution will take place this year. I will be waiting for the end of the new begining, and only hoping that I will share a great part in it.

Me,
im more for the Earth-crust displacement theory (which we are over due for). but im not holding my breath for either.
Though this it self is an interesting question. I was reading a time magazine article (no i dont read that rubbish normally but i had an over night shift and was bored)
and there was an article about how nostrudamus is rather popular in Japan, and that the Japanese have a high percentage of people who are waiting for a major cataclysism
I believe it does speak a hidden truth (NGE) but not one of physical reality.

Does anybody think that second impact is going to happen? I hope not! I hope that there are people on the board who realize that it is a TV show. A damn good one but a TV show none the less. It has some reality in the way that Anno put himself into the characters(especially Shinji) and that made it different but the story in itself was ficticious. Gainax needed an idea for a series. There are a lot of post apocaliptic series' out there. Is anybody asking if they are going to come true? NO!!!! I'm still kinda shocked that I decided to dignify that question with an answer. Sure prophecies said that the world is going to end but according to prophecy it should of happened long ago. We never know when or if it's going to happen so don't sweat it.

Well personally, I believe that the Second Impact won't be a physical event. It will be a change in all of our souls marking........nah that's just bull. The only thing that the Second Impact means to me is an incentive to grab all my Eva-oriented friends and reminise (by that I mean: party hard) actually the Second Impact is only 13 days before my birthday.....maybe a tie-in is in order

I'm new to this board, and I thought I'd post a message, just as much as an introduction, as a means of discussion, and I was quite shocked to find that ATh was the only one who took me the slightest bit seriously!!
I wasn't actually implying that a giant being was going to blow the top of the world, I was mearly taking a prophetic look at the situation.
It's amazing anybody stays on this board, with the closed minds some of you people have.

Why is this September going to be any different from all the other Septembers that have passed? As elementary as my question may seem, your proposal seems to be based on the assumption that this coming September is somehow different. This is the gist of your posts, no? My question to you is, what makes you think that the year 2000 is special/different/significant in any way? Because it starts with a '2' instead of a '1'?
When you say that the year 2000 is "special", you sound very Western, very X'tian and very narrow-minded. Not that there's anything wrong with the Western culture, nor with X'tianity per se, but there is definitely something wrong with narrow-mindedness, and in combination with anything, not just the aforementioned two factors. The year 2000 signifies nothing, except that the 20th century has ended in the Gregorian calendar. It also just happens that the denary numerical system was dominant when the Gregorian calendar was developed, and some Pope said "Ok, we're gonna use 10's to measure years only." It's alluded that some lower ranking priest butted in and said, "But why? We're already measuring minutes in 60's, and hours in dozens, and days in 29's and 30's and 31's, and months in dozens. Isn't it confusing enough already?" It's rumored that this priest was persecuted as a witch. They revoked his witchdom 30 years(how many hours is that, btw? hmm, 30x12x30x12? I'm confused) later and crowned him a martyr for his efforts. It just happens to be 2000 this year. AS in after 1999 anf before 2001.
It's also 2000 years(what's that anyways?) since the birth of Christ(who's he?). I suppose the 2000-odd years of recorded history prior B.C. doesn't matter much.
Step outside your door and take a look around the rest of the world. The Chinese have their own calendar.(I think some Middle-eastern culture has its own calendar as well, it escapes me at the moment.) Japan's calendar turns over to the Year 1 each time an emperor dies(they call it an "ascension"). Does that mean only the Japanese have to wait for a 2000 year old emperor before they get to experience the 2nd Impact?
So tell me again, what's so special about the year 2000, and why is it that something special is going to take place this year?

He really doesn't mean to be mean, I'm assuiming that he's quite older than you or I and you know how old people always seem to think they are right. Oh well, if he and I can co exist then you and him can. He's not a bad guy, just very opinionated(on the other hand so am I) and is quite against religion as I would guess. And please refraim from refering Anime as a Cartoon!!! Cartoons are American forms of Animation... and because of us being heavily influnced by the American culture the word Cartoon automatically implies it is a childrens animation. Of course their is exceptions South Park, Duck Man and Simpsons and Futurama (can be enjoyed by all ages). However generally Cartoons are American forms of Animation. While as you all know Animation in Japan is for ALL ages not just children. So the label 'cartoon' just discraces Anime. And Neon Genesis, Wicked City, Ninja Scroll are NOT just cartoons. They are alot more than that.
