Hey I was just wondering if love hina was out for dvd in america yet?

Nope... its only on DVD in Japan so far, it has been licensed so I guess it will start to be released at some point in the next year or so.

There are Japanese distributed DVDs out there with subtitles already in English.

Careful.... though

The English is done by an average Japanese English student, so as shown in the incredibly disturbing "Japanese English" translation of "Steel Angel Kurumi", it is like cutting your eyes and rubbing them in vinegar to get through these gramatically literal and hideously hard to comprehend tripe.

Just wait for fansubbed tapes or official American DVDs, or better yet, just learn Japanese!!

there were fansubbed tapes but I think most distributors removed them after the licensing was announced, otherwise it would have been illegaler

Yup, Kuro Neko were the only group that did a proper "traditional" sub of the series and they have pulled distribution now that the licensing has been announced. Unfortunately all the digisubs floating around will be almost impossible to stamp out, which is one of the problems of the divx format...
