View Full Version : Viz... and Inuyasha
I hate Viz. Viz ruined Ranma1/2 manga. Then Ranma1/2 anime. Now it's ruining Inuyasha manga. Soon (but I wish never) it will ruin Inuyasha. What do I mean by this? I mean they will dub it. And it will be ruined forever........... waaaaaaaaa :bawling:
But maybe I can avoid it enough not to go insane.
kagome's ultimate nightmare: dubbed Inuyasha get's shown on USian TV--- AAAAAAAAAAKKKK!!!!! *flails arms wildly* nooooo!! make it go away!!!! (okay, it's okay, it hasn't happened yet..) right, I'm fine. I'm.. fine... *twitch*

ranma is a really really good dub, not to mention the subtitles done by viz are accurate.

How can you say that? I thought Ranma was done very well on the Dub. I liked it better than the original... they matched the voices with the characters and they were actually into their characters. Although, Shampoo would've sounded much better if she was dubbed cuter...
I think they'll do fine in Inu Yasha if they did great on Ranma...

EWWWW NO! The dub is like the worst dub ever! Theya all sound so cheezy!
Stil,, I don;t see what's wrong with the manga, other than some small americanizations of slang. And I think the Inu-Yasha manga is pretty darn good, but I do shudder to think what the dub will sound like.

I think Viz does a pretty good job with their manga translations. It takes them FOREVER to release the graphic novels, but unlike some other companies, they put good effort into what they do.
P.S. I like the Ranma dub. It's one of the few dubs I can stand to watch. :)

As much as I don't like Dubs ( :dead: ) , Surprisingly I will even admit that the Ranma dubs are the lesser of all the evils that are out there.

It's not a given that Viz will get the rights to Inu-yasha.
Inu-yasha is produced by Sunrise, which is a subsidiary of Bandai Japan...so it's actually more likely that Bandai USA will release the series.

Why the hell does everyone complain about Viz's translation of the manga? I can understand complaining about the anime what with the dub (though it's one of the better dubs out there) and the two episodes per tape and everything... But the manga? What's wrong with it? Can anybody answer this question? If it's just the slang then the critics should quit complainin' Most of that Japanese slang doesn't have an English equivalent.
*sigh* Inu Yasha-sama...*blink blink* ::comes back to reality:: uh...hung....if viz even touches my beloved Inu Yasha-sama, I personally will rip each and every one of the producers heads off. They have already meddled with Ranma-kun, and I have still not recovered, hell, I even cried when I saw the adds for Tenchi-sama comming to toonami. Toonami can burn--BURN I TELL YOU!!! I just hope Inu Yasha will be left alone. It has some of the best voice acting I have ever seen with Akane's va as Kikyou and Ranma-kun's va as Inu Yasha. They are all extremely talented. I would probably crumble up in pain and soon afterwards wither away if ever viz or any other thing took and dubbed and maybe even aired Inu Yasha. I would just be sooo sad.

The typos-- the typos!!!! (full of righteous indignation) They are always spelling things wrong and switching them around and making grammatical errors!
Amelia.... kisama.... how dare you speak of Inuyasha that way!... he's mine!! MINE I say!!! *repeatedly smacks Amelia with a rolled up newspaper* MINE DAMMIT!!!!!!!
*sulking*
Yea, the seiyuu in Inuyasha are all so good, esp. Kagome's and Kikyou's and Inuyasha's, even though Kikyou is a twisted manipulator who should stop playing with Inuyasha's feelings!!!

Show me one of these typos in Ranma 1/2 that can't be explained away by the fact that there are something like 4 ways to render Japanese words in English. Ryoga is just as valid a spelling as Ryouga.

I don't see the problem in Inu-Yasha being dubbed. There is always the possibility that the dub will be good , like Cowboy Bebop and so many others. Besides, we can buy the uncut Inu-Yasha DVDs when they're released some day... :D. It would be nice if Bandai acquired Inu-Yasha, because they did wonders with Cowboy Bebop (another Sunrise production).
For the record, I think Viz handles their manga titles very well, including Ranma and Inu-Yasha :)

Eh. I think the most evil thing about Viz is that they take a while to release their anime, and it's usually only 2-3 eps per DVD/Video (which is murder on a 55+ episode series).

What's wrong with Viz? They do a better job than others do. Have you pplz seen what Nelvana did to Cardcaptor Sakura?!?! They changed the names, skipped eps, erased some scenes, put everything in a different order (the first Eng. dubbed episode was the 8th episode in japan), the voice actors are terrible! They don't even fit the character! And some of you people out there are complaining about how Viz has dubbed ranma 1/2 and how they will or might dub inu-yasha?!?!?! What would you do if Viz skipped episodes and deleted some scenes?
