Much as I am disturbed by this fact, it is said that a growing community of female fans of "Outlaw" agree in unison that a Melfina/Harry McDougal coupling is romantic (PUUUKEEE!! Wipes mouth with shirt).

Like, come bloody on!! All he is is a sexually starved punk who wants to either beat Melfina or copulate with her when he is not!! And yet these girls (pity them) claim that their relationship is romantic because Mel's sympathy for him would change him into a nicer person (What the ****!?)

What the devil is with the appeal of "wife beating ------- turned loving SNAG by submissive wife" fantasy amongst generation X women.

Please enlighten me.

I think it's only romantic to them since Harry has funny-colored hair, and the cute chicks need guys with funny-colored hair.

Hell, I dunno. I'm not female. While I think Harry's interest in her wasn't completely in the name of love, I do think he "felt" something for her...he was obsessive, violent, and unstable. Some girls like that kinda guy.

Anyone who dares to treat Mel bad, or Gaia forbid, lay a finger on her, will have EVERY DAMN BONE IN THEIR BODY SHATTERED INTO DUST!!

Damn you to hell, Harry Macdougal!!

Hmmm.... First time I've heard that theory... Frankly, I like Harry, *dodges objects thrown at head* but I don't think he and Mel would make a good couple. For one they're too different(I know opposites attract but Harry's just too unstable for Mel IMHO) I guess some think it's cute, cause it looks like Harry really cares for Mel and she doesn't seem to hate him, but I realllyyyy doubt she's in love with him. I don't think they'er each other's type.

I think more than anything else the feeling that Mel has for Harry is closer to pity than love.

Yeah that sounds pretty accurate...

I have managed to finish the entire series, and yes, Harry the bastard in his dying moments truly shows a genuinely touching and tender side unseen in most "spoilt pretty boy' villains. His bittersweet final request to Gene to inform Melfina of his love for her is one of the few moments I actually felt sad for a villain (short of Ruronin Kenshin) in anime.

So in the end, Harry is saved by love after all (not his residual copy, though).

Some girls just find him cute which is impossible for me to understand. Somehow they can look past his evilness and stare straight at the cuteness.

I think the reason why there are so many Mel-Harry Shippers because of what happened towards the very end of the series. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, but I could see there being a few problems in the relationship, but I could be way..... off. Both characters grow during the series, Melfina loses much of her shyness, and Harry seems to learn something along the lines of not always getting what you want. After re-watching the ending, I don't really think that all Mel felt toward him is pity, but probably something deeper, though (according to events during OutLawStar) she loves Gene. I don't think she was "in love" with Harry but sorta loved him, or felt an understanding.

Well, Mel is such a sweet soul that she has a maternal love for ALL life. Its just that the romantic part of the equation is reserved for Gene and Gene alone.
