View Full Version : !!Gasaraki!!
:D I just bought Gasaraki Vol. 1 and I must say Gasaraki rocks! Most of my next paycheck is going straight to buying the next 3 tapes. I recomend this anime to anyone who loves mecha, action, and/or mysteries.
Yeah!!!! Gasaraki is sooo cool!!!! I think it's very similar to EVA...

The similarities to Eva are superficial, trust me. There are some "Eva flashback" moments, but as you watch you'll see that it's quite different. I would describe it more as Patlabor, but with themes of mysticism and reincarnation. If you don't know what I mean, you will once you see more.

Tsk tsk. :nono: We're not allowed to swap episodes here. I know you mean well, but it's in the rules. Besides, Gasaraki is the first DVD title ADV has done a decent job with. Look at all those extras! I'm not just buying them for the show itself; by buying Gasaraki you tell ADV you want to see more good presentations and less Nadesico-quality discs. We have to whip them into shape before they screw up Excel Saga... Behold the power of the consumer!

Anyone know where I can find a review of the whole series, rather than just the first three volumes??...

......
All of the videos aren't out yet. Vol. 5 comes out this month. I'm not sure if there are any more though.
I watched the first 3 eps of Gasaraki...it was very very boring...
Does it get any better later on??

It sort of starts picking up on the third and fourth disks. The first two are a bit slow, but do provide a lot of back ground information. That said, if you're not into evangellion-like animes (meaning heavy on the plot development and light on comedy) then this probably isn't a good anime for you.
A good judge is do you like NGE, Blue Seed, Lain, or Escaflowne? If you like them all then you'll probably like this. If you like one or two then it might be a bit of a toss up.
Anyway, that's my take on it.

Um... I'm not sure Blue Seed fits in with those others; it's a lot more comedic than the other three really. Honestly, Gasaraki is the least funny anime I've seen without wandering into tradgedy territory. At least, I hope it isn't a tragedy... Very heavy on the plots, counter-plots, and contemporary Japanese ideology. Plus some kind of reincarnation freakiness and Shinto mysticism. Not for everybody. I've never met anyone who's watched the whole series, but I'm counting on the people involved to make it worth my time.
On another subject... Who here thinks Yushiro and Miharu are falling in love? I'd predict that's how it ends based on the ending sequence, but you never know. I certainly hope they fall in love... Otherwise, the series is going to be kinda dreary. Still, it'd be nice to see a relationship where the people involved neither love each other at first sight, nor start bickering immediately. In other words, a love that isn't obvious from the word 'go.' I'd like to see that.

I've watched the first 3 volumes on VHS, the first 12 eps...and I think Gasaraki has the most possibility to become great of any new series comign out right now. And, by the way, BRQK3N, the series stays about the same, at least for the next 9 episodes. I think it's great personally, and I have suggested a Gasarki forum in the forum suggestion board. Anyone who wants one go there and respond to my post. Might be a bit hard to find though.

Oh, and, wouldn't it be just dandy if Miharu and _ Goya got together?(been about a month since I last watched any of the show, I can't remember his name) It's almost like Rei and Shinji! just without an Asuka to mess things up.
