It could be safely assumed that a slew of "Love Hina" cosplayers alerady exist in the East, but are there anyone here in the west who have cosplayed "Love Hina" characters yet?

Hnn. . . at y stage. . I can attempt cosplayin Seta Oo; or maybe one of those two annoying friends that Keitaro has...

Any average looking 5 foot eight asian bloke (like me) who wears an orange weather-proof sports jacket, mustard green pair of jeans and pops on a pair of big round framed glasses can look EXACTLY like Keitaro.
Since there would be no points awarded for creativity or effort in doing so, I think I might discount this this choice from my LONG list of potential characters to cosplay as at Manifest, Melbourne this year.

Well the thought of doing Naru had crossed my mind... ((you know red hair and all)) but do you realise how hard it is to get my hair to do those little pointy things? Trust me out of boredom I tried :heh:

... I wish I could do that with my hair too ^^
It's hard to get hair changing like her ... I mean one scene she has two big brain and a second later straight hair with the 2 little antennas ^^ ... some morining I wish I could be an anime caracter !!!:heh:

Though not completely essential, a 3 monty crash course in Karate at your local university just MIGHT be handy in simulating the devastating effects of Naru's punch (But for the love of Gaia, DON'T use a judge, use another male contestant).
By the way, Ms Langley, I deduce that you are a Melbournian, am I correct?

She's from the US of A.
And, I'll give anyone who can pull off the antenna look a hearty pat on the back.

Yep Yep alas I'm a baka yank from the USA :heh:
Well... the braided bit isn't that hard to do although I'm still in the process of training my hair to stick up in the good old antennae fashion... but when I do I'll take a picture *big grin*
 Yeah I guess I need to work on my combat techniques I'm much more adept at the Asuka style smacking.
NOte: If anyone actually cos-plays I want a picture for proof!!!

Well, here's a quick tip:
Naru's punch on average tends to be the Shotokan Karate Reverse "Oitsuki" straight punch. In that the leading leg is on the different side to that of the punch itself, to add more momentum to the swing of the force.
Start the punch at waist level, palm side of fist facing upwards, thrust the arm out but keep the fist facing wrist side upwards. On the moment of impact, twist the fist so that the reverse side of the palm is facing upwards. The effect is so that:
1) Twisting the pressure point of the foe causes IMMENSE PAIN.
2) It actually does send the foe reeling backwards in a circular manner (remember how Keitaro bounced like a pinball in episode 3, although exaggerated, that is the general gist of a reverse punch's effects).
3) Twisting at the final moment increases the momentum of the waist, thereby increasing the force of the punch.
Remember to keep the waist and shoulder square upon impact.
And there you go, an authentic Naru style Karate Punch!!
Good Day.
Hey if anyone trys that they should post the results

I think it would be pretty hard to cosplay as Shinobu. She wears such normal clothes that you wouldn't be able to tell. Personally i think it would be hard to cosplay as a love hina character cuz they dress so normalish. (is normalish even a word? )
Good Evening. :D
I dunno,im 12,black hair,5' 5" what CAN i be?

By Manga voluem number 6, it is proven that Naru IS a somewhat proficient maritial artist, as she learnt her devastating attacks from Seta himself. Hence this justifies the potence in the blows inflicted upon Keitaro.

Does't this make you wonder what type of things Keitaro knows? I mean he has to know some sort of holistic healing ne? This was pointed out in another another thread by someone else when they stated that Su pointed out that Keitaro has one of the highest HP around. So he also definitely has something for him especially if hes still alive. :D

To say that we are looking forward to it would be an understatement.
In other words, please do send us a picture of your triumphant performance in October when it is photographed. We would be much obliged.

Also, Ms Langley. If you do manage to pull it off, could you please keep us posted on how you accomplished it?
Because I am cosplaying a character with similar "antennae", Officer Saitoh Hajime from "Ruronin Kenshin" in August.
Much Obliged

::stands proud::
I got th'anttenae thing done and I kept them up for aroudn an hour ^_^;; took a lot of gel. . .and hairspray O_o; oyaji was about to say that I might as well try to use a hair curling thing but I got it up ^^;;;
However. .. I'm a male O_o; so it doesn't really help me that much. . . though I only did it because my hair was kinda long. . . [to my nose]
::curses:: now oyaji made me cut it so it's short again . .

Hey, it's not an exclusively female hairstyle trait in anime!! Just look at Captain Saitoh Hajime from Ruronin Kenshin!!

Hid just goes down though... his hair doesn't have that bounce that Narus hair has. Her hair would be harder to cosplay IMHO.
