The ending of big o was annoying. I thought it was a 26 ep series then it ended after 13 really abruptly without (as everyone else said) explaining anything.

I really like Big O and I have to admitt that I wished it had gone on a little longer than 13 episodes. For those of you that have not seen all 13 Toonami is putting Big O back on again. It starts on Monday.

I think it was kind of a good ending, at least for a season. If there had been another 13 (or even 1!) episode(s) it would have been perfect. But, otherwise it left to much in the air, not even enough for fans to come up with theories of their own. I can kinda peice together that...

(spoilers ahead)

(well not really...)

(just don't read if you havn't seen every episode)

Roger, along with a few other children (i thought that he was 25!) were some kind of experiment directed by Gordon Rosewater that envolved the megadeuces. It appears that something went wrong and the megadeuces rebelled and destroyed Paradigm city and caused the citizens to lose their memories.

(end mild spoilers)

Does anyone agree w/ me?

No no no, the experiment goes beyond just the children. Why do you think the sun never comes up in Paradine, the whole city and everyone in it is an experiment. The children are the main characters in the experiment. They try to replicate that which is the essence of life in the artificial manner. Rosewater explains it when he talks about the tomatoes and how they're artificial but become closer to the real thing each time he harvests. By having no memories, the people don't rely on their pasts to define who they are and what the essence of their lives as well as the general idea of the essence of life is all about. The children are implented with memories to determine if they will fall to their predestined destineys from the memories like an android excuting a program or if they will decide their own destinies by choosing a path different from the ones they're lead to believe they should follow from the memories. If you think about Roger and Red Dorothy's conversation. RD says that following her destiny, which is to kill all the children, is like opening an umbrella in the rain, something that is common thought, but Roger says some people like to stand in the rain, something that goes against common thought. Their conversation explains the idea that the essence of life, the goal of Rosewater's experiment, is in self determined destiny. The MegaDeuces are there to empower the children and don't really have much to do with the goal of the experiment. It just causes the children who were implented to have power to change things. Rosewater tries to see if the children would use their power to do what their memories and society will encourage them to do or they would use the power to go against their predetermined destiney and make their own life. The memories of the Megadeuces destroying the city is completely fake as are all the memories. It's there to make them believe that they are "real people" and not artificial "made up" people, created just for the experiment. The megadeuce rampage never happened, it's all artificial background for the experiment. The key to understanding the whole thing is the conversations between Roger and the Dorothys and the conversation between Roger and Rosewater. If you think back to the scenes with Dorothy, she knows she's an android but instead of behaving like an android should behave, she mimics humans and behaves as if she has human qualities. The juxtaposition of regular Dorothy and Red Dorothy is the basic concept of the experiment. Dorothy who although artificial determines and behaves in ways that don't follow the destiney of a robot, is a stark contrast to Red Dorothy who strictly follows her programming. Rosewater tries to capture or replicate this spirit or desire for self determination of one's own destiny through these experiments. Just a theory, don't think too much into it.

Jesus Christ man! Sit down, have some coffee and repeat after me. "I will not over-analyze, I will not over analyze..." Good point though. I feel dizzy.

I actually never thought of it that way...and probably wouldn't have to if they just freaking finish it. Anyway I loved the epsidoe RD even though it was more a climax rather than an ending. I thought was an excellent climax...intellectually intriguing too.

"I see the red door and want it painted black."

"I see those Girls walk by dress in there summer cloths."
"I have turn my head intil my darkness glows."

Kinda like the ending to Star Wars. You just shout "SEQUEL!" but unfortunatly there seems to be no sequal in the works. I think it was a good 'climax' for the series, kinda mysterious but you can still draw some conclusions.
