I have ordered the first 2 tapes and I was wondering what I should expect? Can you tell me the basic storyline to the series?

In the year 2195, an aggresive alien race dubbed the Jovian Lizards is kicking the Earth Federation's butt. The colonies on Mars and the Moon have fallen into their hands. A private company, Nergal Heavy Industries, has built its own battleship, the most advanced ever. They also staffed it with a group of complete nutbars. Now it's up to the Nadesico and her crew to defeat the Jovian hordes. But I guess you knew that much about the show already if you already ordered it.

Nadesico is a comedy with bits of space drama thrown in and some nice action. There are also in-joke type references to almost every sci-fi anime ever, including Evangelion, Macross and Yamato. If the story seems a bit generic at first, that's because it's meant to resemble all the other anime sci-fi out there. Give it time. There's a nice setting there, and some very appealing characters. Just don't get too attatched to the wrong ones... There is more than one plot twist to be had here.

PS: Keep an eye on the cartoon within the cartoon. It's important later.
