is Love hina any good? and what is it about (like the main plot)?
I was just kind of curious..I figure if Megumi (hayashibara) is in it, it's gotta be good right?

Most everyone in here will tell you that its really good (including me :D ).

I'll say this much. If you have Yumikos taste in anime you would prolly not like it. She would prolly tell you to watch KareKano (I liked that series to).

A majority of the audience who watches Love Hina is guys. That doesn't mean that all girls don't like the show (yes there are girls out there who like Love Hina... amazning ne?). In conclusion? Go watch it cuz it is pretty good, but as usual its all up to individual taste.

After you watch it please, do tell us whether you liked it or not and why. :D

Well, if you're in it for Meg, the two characters she does(Haruka and Taichi) are minor characters(though one of them is my fave character from the serie^^; ).

As for the plot, well its the story of Keiraro, who has a childhood dream of getting into Tokyo University, because of a promise he made as a child. But he is very unsuccessfull with girls, bad in school and in sporst, ie he would be considered a loser. He moves in a All girl dormitory with hot springs as manager, to replace his grandmother, and lots of humorous and romantic things happen afterward :).

Well speaking from a girls POV on this one... and what seems to be one of the few girls in this forum :confused2 I absolutely LOVE this series!!! ((note the Naru avatar)) I dunno it's sappy and funny... it's like the best of that whole genre if you ask me... aside form Eva it is my favorite anime... movie... tv series... awe hell you get the point.

Just so we stay on topic here, I'm glad we have Asuka in this forum supporting Love Hina... she being one of the few females I know who actually loves the show. :D Oh yea. :D

we have a big shounen (jo) manga with it in it and it looks ok. I think the turtle looks cute!!! I like the animation, from what I've seen that is. It's always nice to have another good series out there...

i love Love hina. But the series is so different from the anime (At least it starts at a diferent point... ive only read the first one so far but getting the next soon) But i dont think thats a major problem with it. its just so funny!

its a perfect mix of comedy and romance, its great :D

and the quality of the animation is pretty much the best I've seen.

If you start by reading the manga though, you better realise that there's a lot more fan service in it then in the anime, but for most people that's not a problem. ;)

The name is a bit confusing, I thought Love Hina is some kinda girl anime like sailor moons, so I avoided it. Then some of my friend thinks Its great so I watched. And I actually like it. I don't see why most girls don't like to watch this serie, Its usually the guy who getting the beating and bashing in Love Hina.
Btw. What does Love Hina means. I haven't seen any character, with the name Hina. Closest what I have heard is Hirasumi Keitaro

Well, 'Love' is obvious, and 'Hina' means doll as far as I know. So I guess it could be translated as 'Love Doll'. Also, Keitaro's grandma who originally runs the place is named Hina, so it could just be because of her and have nothing to do with the meaning of the word (I doubt it though. I have a theory on the name that I'll post here very soon.)

As to girls not liking Love Hina for the fan service......I think that would just be idiocy. I can understand being offended by fan service in general, but the women in LH are never objectified. They ARE sexualized, but they are aggressive as well, never passive objects. And anyone who doesn't think girls use their looks to manipulate men is living in a dream world!

It might happens to do with the note, where grandma leave the hinata inn to keitaro. From what I know most woman would put something like: Love name(Hina)
Love Chicks is also viable, since the dorm is girls only and being a man, you just gotta love them.

I'm a girl and I think Love Hina is alright. :)
I've only read the manga and have not seen the anime but from what I've heard the manga is better anyway. I'm not too bothered by the fanservice though ther is a LOT of it... I don't really understand the overwhelming popularity Love Hina has, I enjoy the series but I've met many people who are just is love with it. It seems like an average anime to me...good, but nothing really extrodinary. Oh well, I guess I just don't really get it :heh:

I've only seen the first 3 episodes of the anime so far, and I can say for sure that i'm going to watch more!!! It's so funny :D and now i need to get the manga too. So yes i'd say it is good, and this is from someone who is just getting into the series herself.

Oh i guess this makes 4 girls who like it, and i'm not offended by the fan service, it adds to the fun :)

I was actually one of the early adopters of this series. I bought the first volume about 2 years ago with no previous knowledge of the comic because the cover looked nice being done in Photoshop. At the time, I thought the plot was below average and the drawing quality was great. The drawing quality has been maintained and the story has improved though. If I'm reading LH, it's not for the story, but for the artwork. I'll still continue to buy it though... As for the animation, I never liked it. I don't like the extra characters(especially the old men), characters don't look as good as they do in the comic, and the discrepencies. Someone has said that LH is a guys fantasy and I would have to agree with that. It seems that I'm a minority, but don't be angry at me for what I said. It's just an opinion.

Maybe I feel this way about LH because recently I was watching Comic Party and everything about this animation is so much better. Better character design (they were designed by Leaf's top CG artists), music, animation quality, plot, etc. The only thing that's probably better than this is the original game. All of the characters from Comic Party are prettier and more "moe" than the ones from LH. Again, this is all IMHO. I'd like to know what everyone else thinks.
