pig attack?

In one scene in episode three, while Motoko's running through the maze at the kendo camp, a herd of pigs run towards her and she dispatches them with one stroke. My question is why are there pigs running towards her at a sword dojo? And why does she attack them?

Yes,we all know pigs are the embodiement of evil.They try to look innocent and lazy in their mud but when the time is right....boom!They'll enslave us and rule the world!!Mwahahaha!!

besides, if the pigs had been there for any length of time, then you could say it's an exercise in keeping focus even when there's a horrible stench :)
