What a surprise. As popular as Love Hina is, this comic is unheard of by most people even though it's by the same author (it's one of his previous works). Can't say the artwork looks better than LH, but the main character of this story looks better than Keitaro and is a genius of a programmer. Of course LH is the better of the two series, but I'd like to know your opinion.

Okay, I'll tell a bit more than that. The full name of the comic is AI ga Tomaranai which means 'Can't stop AI' (I think I translated that correctlyly from the dict). Since Mr. Ken Akamatsu likes to pun, 'AI' could mean love or Artificial Intelligence (I'm just guessing here).

The main character here is like Keitaro (ie. seems to be unlucky, no relations with girls) except he's skilled at the art of programming. In the 1st chapter the main character comes home from a bad day of school to work on his No 30 program (it's some kind of girlfriend AI program). While his program is running, lightning strikes his house and the AI character pops out of his computer. The main character loses consciousness (from a nosebleed after looking at her naked). He wakes up the next morning thinking it was a dream until he sees his AI program in his house.

I was reading the Chinese version so I couldn't tell you the Japanese names for the characters(unless you want the Chinese romanization of the names). Also interesting is that the AI girl is a model for Mutsumi Otohime (I read about this in one of the LH volumes). They both have that 'Happy Go Lucky' personality.

"AI ga tomaranai", although extremely amusing and often touching, is not one of Akamatsu Sensei's best works. Notwithstanding at times that it can be uncomfortably lecherous, (even moreso than the Love Hina manga) it is basically jumping on the bandwagon of "Ah My Goddess"'s success by using the identical formula.

In short, AI ga tomaranai is a crude, blatantly sexual cross between "Weird Science" and "Ah My Goddess" that is charming, but ultimately nowhere as good as Love Hina.

Yes, yes, I realise that this is an old, OLD thread..... but I finally downloaded the first volume of this.

First of all, I would've never guessed that it was an Akamatsu manga... the style is far removed from Love Hina's......

Generally, I agree with everyone here....... it's a fun read, but too.......... generic...... it can get slow at times. Definitely not as good as Love Hina, though I wouldn't mind following it to its conclusion (as fast as the fantranslators can edit it, that is).....

"Love (or Artificial Intelligence) can't be stopped" is a heartwarming "poor man's Oh My Goddess" that goes to areas where its source material would not touch with a 15 foot pole. And amongst its female leads later on is a truly shagadelic American girl who bears a striking resemblence to Asuka Langley. :kawaii: But much cuter and nicer.

And doesn't Asou from AGT remind you of Sayoko from AMS/OMG?

And don't forget also that they all follow the Belldandy/Urd/Skuld Model. Even the 'Keichi' guy is a mechanic of sorts!!

Not to mention that due to the scriptwriters' obsession of removing any remotely sexual content from the original "Island Continuity" that the Spring Special became a contrived piece of ill paced, poorly written, stupidly surreal garbage. :(

Reason links can't be shown is somewhat simple if you think about it. Distroing is illegal (even though haveing a copy of a show for yourself is legal.... weird ne) Also, Eva2k prolly wants to make his site as legal as possible in order to appeal to any potential advertisors.
