What happened to the x9 in Macross Plus?

I rewatched the Macross Plus movie again, and I was wondering if "testo piloto Guldo" destroyed the Ghost x-9. He says just another minute while trying to get the missle lock, but his eyeball explodes before he fires anything. It doesn't show the Ghost blowing up, but the view angle does zoom out so we see the trails of the two fighters. One continues in its current trajectory tangent to the earth, the other one changes direction sharply - so I thought it was possible that it was destroyed (though certainly not clearly shown). Anyway I was wondering if anyone had seen a different cut from the series maybe to support my wishful thinking.

The movie version does this scene better. He overloads the fighter chasing it but he smiles just before he rams it, destroying the X-9. He goes into orbit and becomes a star

in the series Gou rams it with his YF-21, and they both kind of get scrapped. He "takes it thorough the gates" and goes BOOM!

We see Guld's destroyed Valk in a scene going into orbit, si I think that means that the other trail in the wide angle view that sharply changes direction is the Ghost crashing back down to Earth. Even if the Ghost wasn't completely destroyed, it wasn't in any shape to keep flying .

When Guld overloaded the safety limiter, it meant that he could push the VF-21 beyond the physical limits of humans/Zentraedi, the one advantagethe ghots had was removed. He went full throttle and the G's hit him hard. His eye was seen to be liquified just before hitting the Ghost. Ie his whole body was pretty much crushed from the force.

Besides that how could Guld be the size of a normal human? I mean he is half-Zentraedi… Weren't they giants?

Oh wait… The shrink ray… Was that used?

He was born that way. Hes only Half Zentraedi and if you think about it...

Yes, most Zentraedi underwent micronisation when they defected from the Armada. Zentraedi are basically human, ie. 99% DNA match, they were made bigger to be better warriors. Though when fighting the humans it turned out like David vs Goliath

shrink ray the zentradi... hmm... reverse the polarity and make me huge :) anything plane that makes the pilot go splat is too slow...
