The (pointless) Tifa-Aeris War

One of the few advantages to being monetarily-challenged is that while I rarely get to buy a new game, I do beat the heck out of all the ones I own. So I've been playing through FF7 for the third time, and I am once again struck by how damn brilliant it is. So, I decide to look on the web for some interesting FF7 shrines and stuff, and what do I find? About 30 different sites with different variations of 'Aeris is a %#*@, Tifa Rules!", or "Tifa is a *&^% Aeris is a Goddess!"

What's up with that? I mean, it's a pretty normal fandom thing to get attatched to a certain character and then downplay the importance of the other characters to make the one you like seem that much better, but the intensity and animosity in the Tifa-Aeris feud is unbelievable. People talk about these characters as if they really want to kill them or something. It's especially funny when you consider how well Tifa and Aeris got along in the actual game, sure there was some tension over who was going to end up with Cloud, but they were really close friends. In contrast Rinoa and Quistis in FF8 had outright arguments and no one has started a Rinoa-Quistis war......although I have seen some Anti-Rinoa sites, but there are also a lot of pro-Rinoa sites so I guess she just incited a lot of mixed reactions.

Anyone here a confessed Tifa Hater/Aeris Lover, or vice-versa? Just curious:)

I didn't really like either of them. I preferred Yuffie personally. I think,such fights arise because they're chalk and cheese. The same applies for the Rei/Asuka flame wars.

I like Tifa better than Aeris, but I don't love her nor do I have an obsession. I'm not going to say that Aeris is a b*tch either. Such wars is just a waste of time.

I gota admit i like tifa better too, but yeah it's pretty pointless. Sure i jump in on the argument for the sake of making post, but i font really mean it! I think it's sad how people make entire websites about it......how sad :(
Besides they were good friends in the game...not as if they were at war..:D

Actually to be honest.... I agree with Coign here. :heh: I liked Yuffie as well. :p

Selphie is a ho, but that's what makes her fun. Her little dance and pose after battle is quite amusing. Sometimes you can see her panties.


Enough stupid stuff. I think it's the same reasons as the Asuka vs Rei battles that you see.

As for me, I have gone through FF7 twice (still haven't finished it, tho :o ) and the first time I was nice to Aeris, but the second time I tried to be mean to her. I guess I wasn't mean enough. She still asked Cloud for a date in the Saucer.... but I think I like Tifa more. Although, you could make an arguement for Elena... :naughty:

Well I spose if they're designated thus in the game it'd be fine - ie. the Mana Goddess (Secret of Mana series) - but otherwise I agree whole-fartedly (sorry, watched Terrence and Philip - 'not without my anus' again)

i gotta say that I prefer Tifa's character over Aeris though, just on the point of fact that Tifa doesn't die and waste all your levelling up effort on her :(

you got a point there i dont even fight with erith when i have her shes jsut to weak and the healing doesnt do enogh unless you get her finall one (which i could never get)

Yeah, I got Aeris's Level 4 Limit Break 'Great Gospel' this time around, and I got to use it a whole three times or something before she died.........kinda made me wonder why I bothered, but this was the game where I said that I would 'do anything'.

Yuffie was funny, but I don't understand why they made her an 'optional' character-I would never play FF7 without both Yuffie and Vincent, and the fact that people could have gone through the game without knowing of their existence is kind of.....lame.......

I noticed the fact that you could see Selphie's panties too, but I guess those people at Square need some perks to get through the massive game-creation process..........

Hey! I saw the date with Tifa TODAY!!! lmao....for the first time. And this is my sixth time through. If anyone wants to make fun of me for that, I will go to your house and beat you to death with a crowbar.
