Most will end with EL or Al

sometimes this could be used to detrmine wheather the entity is male or female.

Other accounts use the latters of the Hebrew alphabet as a guide to what the being would look like in human form. Aleph, and where it is in the name would be what sort of wings ect.ect

Of course once you start with the english you lose most of the meanings, as one person will spell it in english one way, which will then be interpreted anothr way and before you know it, the original name is lost.

waittaminuite, there are no male or female angels, take note that male and female exist inorder to propagate a species, but angels do not reproduce - ive read somewhere that they are supposed to be androgenous

Well you have fallen into a trap here.

The angels do not have human form either. It is all symbolic. They are of an order above normal human comphrension,

symbolic language is needed for communication and understanding.

There are Male and Female forces (though they have nothing to do with gender issuses)

there are many stories as to why There was a fall from grace for certain Angels.

That may be one of them but it seems unlikely.

Angels are and will always be a mystery...that's what Anno intended in the first place...Evangelion is something that can never be fully deciphered :-)
