Okay I coast by this many times on my anime buying runs. It looks very interesting... And I've wanted to just go from a hunch and buy the first one. but never got up the nerve. How is it?
I need to know how it is before I give it a whirl in muh DVD player.
The mecha design is pretty odd, but yet in some way appealing. Please give me anwsers! If not.. I will slowly wither into certan oblivion... *falls backwards*
I've only seen the first dvd but from what I saw I thought it was pretty good. I've been too busy getting other dvds to get the rest of the series.
All I've seen of Gasaraki is what is in this brilliant AMV I got.....It looks good. Good enough for me want to buy it when it hits Australia.

Buy it! or rent it...... I really really like it .I hate how everyone thinks its too much like Evangelion. It's hardly anything like Evangelion or Lain.It has cool music, animation, and one hell-u-va story.
see you space cowboys.

Watch it. I've only seen the first six episodes, but that's due to lack of time.... NOT lack of interest.
The story is deep (THIS is why it is compared to Evangelio, even thoguh aside of that fact they are really not much alike), the Mecha are realistic -- they COULD have these things somewhere. The fight scenes are intense, and the behind the scenes look into strategy is VERY cool.
In short, go rent the first DVD.... if you like it, buy it... I know I plan to when I have some spare cash...

I've seen the first two volumes and want to see the rest. Great animation, realistic regional/international politics, and some interesting characters.

I have the first 4 DVDs.... the story itself was a bit slow but picked up after the fist DVD... the mech deigns are very interesting and slick in appearance. While not on my top ten list I would still recommend it for anyone who has not seen a lot of anime. Its a very Detailed anime. When i say detailed you'll prolly understand what i mean when you watch it.
Good Afternoon? Yes it has been a good afternoon. :)

Is it just me or does parts of this series just not get translated well in both the subs and the dubs?
Here are two examples:
1. On DVD1 there is a scene where they are showing off the TAs in simulated combat. They state no live ammo will be used, and that they will use lasers to calculate damage. They go on to show live ammo and real damage. (This bothered me alot for some reason.)
2. On DVD3 when the Kugai attacks the second Fake the pilot is told to eject becouse the self destruct has been activated. He replies that he cant eject so they say eject manuly we are moveing in to pick you up. They show the Fake trying to get up with the pilot in it still the screen flashs to a countdown thats on 2 or 3 sec then goes back and the pilot says that its going after F1 again. Then the Fake is shown blowing up. Later they say the pilot of F2 was suscefuly retrieved but the pilot of F1 was captured by the enemy. (I think that this scene went totaly diferent, and the pilot was actuly destroyed in the Fake.)
Theres another one I cant recall witch DVD its on but a populated area is bombed but they say that it was abandond.
Aside from the first one I mentioned a like this series alot and cant wait to see how it ends.

Presumably the damage we see is the simulated damage they were talking about. The whole exercise is seen from the perspective of the officers watching the thing. They didn't just mean that the damge would be displayed, they meant that a computer would actually be creating footage to show the resulting damage. For DVD #3, I'm with you. That other pilot was wasted. Symbol is not exactly a nice organization. When they said the pilot was safely retrieved, it's probably a mistranslation, but that's understandable. See, I think the original line was meant to imply that they were safe from the other pilot revealing information (because she's dead).

I just finished Gasaraki volume 3. One thing I can say this series has going for it is an excellent dub. I can't make any judgements on it's accuracy (I've only seen the dub version), but the voice actors actually seem to give a damn about their performances.
I've still got more questions than answers so far. Things are clearing up about the Gowas, the TAs, and the dancing. Getting deeper and deeper...I can't wait to see how Yushiro and Miharu handle the path of the Kai.

it has a extremely complicated story line yet well developed. and maybe that is why they find alot of things incommon with it and evagelion or lain. anyway i think its great so go for it. watch the whole if you can.
