It seems that almost every character in Love Hina has an "ideal mirror image." In other words, a person who although embodies the qualities they would like to possess, but in all other ways a clone of themselves.

They are as follows:

Keitaro's Clone= Professor Seta
Naru's Clone= Otohime Mitsumi
Kaolla's Clone= Sara McDougal
Motoko's Clone= Her Sister
Shinobu's Clone= Nyamo

Funny, is it not?

Most eveyone... what about granny? Who would be her "clone".... or is her "clone" yet to be introduced? :confused2

There is a better one of Keitaro, I don't remember his name, he is some kind of prince who was to be married with Kaolla Su. Even the cast couldn't distinguish the two except for Kaolla and Mutsumi. They where all amazed of how he is the exact opposite of Keitaro, I think the maker was pointing out of how Keitaro could have been if he has more confidence, less clumsy, but would be a lot less funnier too.

Hmm, good point. Even the prince's "flight by punching" was nowhere as funny as when Keitaro's.

Also, when are we ever going to see Kitsune's counterpart?

How about Kitsune is Haruka.
Seems haruka is always sober, mature, has a history with Seta and is less of a rebel then Kitsune.

Plus, they are the two most shagadelic chicks in the Hinata inn.

Wonder why Keitaro keeps saying old women to her? Probably because he's family.

I guess with so many teenage girls in anime these days, being over 30 is considered being "old" lol

I'd say though that Sarah's clone is Kaolla, not the oposite. While Sarah is a mischievous brat,Kaolla is just energetic.

The fansubs are HORRIBLY mistranslated. He politely and formally (possibly even affectionately) addresses her as "Baasan", which means "Auntie."

However, the connotations of being an "aunt" includes being a senior, and hence older and unattractive woman (hence the western misconception in translating it in the colloquial sense).

So although Keitaro's address was FAR from impolite, it is not well received as it implied the senior age of a still young and attractive woman.

She's not over 30, she's just 27, same as Misato. :D But nonetheless...

Actually, Major Katsuragi Misato was 29 at the begining of the series, and would presumably be 30 by the time she literally bit the bullet in "End of Evangelion."

Thanks for clearing that up, I always thought it was kind of odd to call your aunt old woman.

(Sigh of relief)

Good. It takes Japanese people to understand how an anime truly needs to be presented.

yeah, Bandai acquired the rights to it a month or 2 ago..

I wonder when they're going to start releasing it? From what I understand, they've just bought the rights so far and haven't really started for on subbing/dubbing it. Probably be a while...

WHEW!! Then those vicious rumours about Love Hina being scheduled for screening on American TV (in butchered format) are false after all...

It would be a "Galapagas" sized land tortoise called Tama-Kun that only shows up in the Manga in volume 8.

Seriously it would be her older sister, since she is who inspired Motoko to take up the sword. Her older sister is everything Motoko wants to be like, even the hidden desires to have a normal life and start a normal familie.

I think Sojurn meant Tama-chan,not Motoko.

I think Tama-chan's clone would be Keitaro. They both fly(although Keitaro gets help from Naru for that),they both annoy the heck out of Motoko and both are very resilient creature(Tama-chan has her turtle shell and Keitaro has his apparant immortality).

Thank you for reviving this LONG dormant threat and welcome to Animeboards, EnriqueHavoc!!

Anyhoo, If you read the Manga, there is a gradual yet noticable shift of Motoko's attitude towards Keitaro. Although it is not love per-se, it is a respect that can occasionally veer into affection whenever Keitaro has proven hims nobility in spite of his "knavely" nature.

actually, motoko does grow to like keitaro in a more than respect way. when she and keitaro are trying to defeat motoko's sister, and she see's naru and keitaro acting friendly at some point or another, she goes out to a tree and realizes she's jealous of how close the 2 are. She just doesnt voice her feelings.
