I hope that I'm not asking something that's already been asked, but, what does Nadesico mean? I'm going to assume that it's some sort of Flower for two reason: 1) pretty much everything in the show is somehow flower related, and 2) in Cardcaptor Sakura, her mom's name is also Nadesico, and snince Sakura is Cherry Blossom, it would make sense that theh mom would also benamed for a flower. So am I close? I'm new to the series and I'm pretty clueless whn it comes to Japanese. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it much ^_^

I think there was an old sea-type vessel called the Nadesico, and it was named after that.

I think it is, because if you look at the Nadesico emblum there is a petel of so sorts in the background, unless its a Cheery Blossom.
Maybe the Nadesico is a cusin to the Cheery Blossom. :D

I'm thinking if its a flower's name its not a native Japanese flower because the title isn't phonetically possible in Japanese. And I think in the Anime its written in Katakana (hiragana and/or kanji is used for native words and katakana is used for foreign words/names).
That said, I would believe the theory that its the name of a ship. After all, Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamamoto) was named after the great World War II battleship commanded by Admiral Yamamoto. Or at least that's what I remember.

It is a flower, and it's actually called Nadeshiko, because it is the same name given to the mom in Cardcaptors and everyone on that series is named after flowers.
think about it, everything in Nadesiko has a flower theme, just for an example, the chulips (tulips) look like flower buds and when they open up they look like flowers too.

Yeah, I am pretty sure it is in the theme of flowers. Although it may be because of an earlier ship called the Nadesico... Either way.
It's a kewl name though right?
