Yeah, Naru is definetly more stable then Asuka, but she's not perfect either. For one thing, she sure dosen't give a guy much time to explain if he's ever caught in a compromising position ;)

Naru looks like Asuka if she's made to look like Asuka (like she is in that fanart) IMO, Naru's face is much rounder, her eyes are bigger, she's taller, she doesn't have the same devilish face expression we all love so much *points to avatar* :D I just don't think she looks like her (It has never occured to me once while watching LH).

Anyway I don't want to start a who's better argument (even though one seems to have started anyway ^^) so I'll just say... Naru sucks :P

Regerdless, that picture in the beginning of the thread is great, there are really great pics in the manga of the girls in cool costumes. Shinobu in Lain's teddy pyjamas.... :lol:

NO WAY! :heh: Shinobu is sooooo much more stable then Lain.... plus the fact you really can't compare a mortal to god. :p At first they may seem the same but there are some wicked differences between the two. About Naru\Asuka... I can't say I really see a physical resemblance between the 2 because of reason I've already mentioned. To be honest, most anime girls look a like, if you give them all the same hair style and eye colour you could hardly tell them apart... I think that's why people think they look a like, the style in which they are drawn is completely different which makes them look even less like each other IMO.

Personallity wise... I just don't see it. Ok, they can both be considered hot tempered and violent but Naru just goes off ALL THE TIME over nothing. She isn't a ----- like Asuka, she's just... dumb. She doesn't want to admit the feelings she has for Keitaro, not even to herself (why? I don't know, is he too geeky for her? what *is* her problem?), she often gets depressed over things like Keitaro seeming to like Mitsumi more than her, unlike Asuka, who, in such a situation, will not rest until the opposition is laying at her feet in a bloody pile :D

While Asuka has a traumatic background that sheds light on the reasons she became what she is and makes her a deep character, Naru is just a crazy, violent, men abusing whirlwind of fanservice.

I guess that on the surface that are some similarites between Asuka and Naru, they are both proud and hot tempered. There can also be similarites between the relationship of Asuka and Shinji as opposed and that of Naru and Keitaro (but that is only if you believe shinji and asuka have feelings for each other, which I don't, so It doesn't bother me :cool: ) but if you look deeper into the characters (as well as the relationships) I think you'll find that they are actually very different.

very nice IAL. myself being a rei fan makes this hard to say, but i prefer asuka to naru. *put hand on IAL's head to prevent the jumping for joy* naru is a good character in LH but compared to asuka she's nothing. asuka has an extreme amount of depth to her, she faces her problems and for that i respect the hell out of her. naru just gets praised like crazy, all the males go after her, she makes a CD and goes on tv. asuka is the best pilot for a couple of months and doesn't even get a "congrats" out of it. i'll take asuka over naru any day. but rei will always trample asuka :D

Depth does not necessarily equate to DARK, however. In a sense Naru is as deep as asuka and more real because she is as capable of GENUINE joy as she is of sarcasm and fake emotions.

Hmm... I relate to both and I really like both... Naru is just capable of showing more joy... She has the advantage of age of Asuka... so she has had time to deal with her past and move on... remember she is a child of divorce and all that as well.

IAL the only thing i have in common with naru is kind of the smart thing and well that's it. i'm glad you brought up the divorce thing, but asuka also had a similar situation with her mother dying and father remarrying. you're right, naru does have the age advantage which is critical. on a bit of a side note i'm one of the few people that enjoys the fact that asuka's mind was raped. she faced her past without the option of retreating from the pain and came out a better person, what's so wrong with that?
