Hey guys help me out on something...whats the whole premise behind the story? Havent seen/ or heard anything about it...but I would like to know more....

Vandread is about the future of humanity's in space.

The story goes as we begin to follow Hibiki(AKA ojo-san = mister alien), a third class citizen(worker) who has no way of climbing up the ladder. You have to be related to the first generation of colonist to be first class citizen. Hibiki wanted to be a pilot of the defense force, utilizing giant robots they called Vanguard thus the name Vandread(dread you will find out later on). He brags about he could pilot those vanguard as good as anybody else of the first class citizen and agreed to steal one in a foolish bet.
In Hibiki world male and female lives apart from each other thus reason for hilarious situation when a male encounters female and how they react to each other. Earth send them away to colonise new worlds, cause the earth was dying. Something happens and the female start to colonise their own planet and the male colonise another planet. The female attacked and by accident they got transport to a different region of space, having to defense themselves against hostile aliens and most of their equipment fused into strange forms, they decide they need to work together to get back home. On their way homes they learn to live with each other and their own past gets revealed. Also on the way home they find out about the aliens origin and what they have intended for them.

This anime is something for you if you like space battles, mecha, good story one of the most original I have seen. vandread has lots of humor and lots of fanservice. The computer graphics space battles are one of the better CGI I have ever seen.
