I'm conserving my net connection so that I can still come here and other places daily and to pass the time I decided "I know, I'll watch the entire Eva series again!" -_- 13 hours later, with the odd break for creaming soda, caffeine and failed chocolate crackles (don't ask) I've got a couple of tiny thoughts that i'll put here, instead of digging up old threads on the old board for the sake of a few words.


ATh, Access and I were discussing a theory about the embryo that Kaji brings is actually Lilith. In the first flashback episode (I forget, it's all a blur now -_-) when Unit-00 is carrying the Lance to, we assume, insert it into Lilith, I heard this quote

Fuyutsuki: What about the Adam project?
Gendou:Rei is taking care of it

Now it strikes me that old Fuyutsuki would know the truth behind the whole Adam/Lilith debacle and would know Adam from Lilith. So I figure that this, in tandem with the points that ATh and Access raised, give weight to the theory that the Embryo was in fact Lilith. Now this is contradicted by the Directors Cut and the Movies I believe, but then they were made AFTER the series, and Anno had originally intended the series to be a self-contained storyline. So there :b

There was a small thing about the Destrudo experiment somewhere else too. Watching the episode in question again, this is actually used to refer to Yui's first sync test, not the plan to returen her later.

Well that's it for now. Next time I do the marathon I'm going to take notes.

Yes, but we also came to the conclusion that that in itself raises some uncomfortable questions. (eben though it does offer some light).


I get paid in a few days, and will be buying a whole heap of goodies and doing the marathon as well. (i might even throw both D&R and EoE in as well, And i will be taking notes. I have a webpage to do)

In ep 24 when Kauru is about to merge with the giant on the cross he stops and says: "wait, this is not Adam, but Lilith. I understand lilin now." (or something like that)

to be honest i think i have forgotten the vast bulk, but ill give it a go (i even think it was my idea to begin with, but will need Access and Pen pen to prod my memory)

Lilith in D&R regrows her legs almost instantneously, thus the Lance was infact halting her regerneration.

Now the lance is only brough to NERV in ep (something or other), which means it is not in Lilith, thus not halting her growth.

Now the embroy Kaji brings to Gendo (calls it Adam) is frozen but even though it is regernerating as well.

Now if this embroy is Lilith then it explains how her growth is stunted, as it is not long aftr this that the Lance is taken to NERV. Unfrozen she regenerates quickly, bu tthe lance is placed in her before she can fully heal herself.

So the question wa raised-- what if the embroy is not Adam but Lilith.

It explains why the angel of the sea (well the fish one ) attacked the ships, it was on route to NERV HQ (not too sure how well it walks on land though) but sensed this embroy and attacked. If the embroy was not there at that time this angel would have also ended up in Tokyo-3.

But as i said this fils in some gaps but opens a few more

good theory, but like you said, it opens more gaps, so here are a few:

1. if lilith was the embryo brought by Kaji from Germany, where would NERV have gotten their supply of LCL? Remember LCL smells like blood - and the LCL which is in terminal dogma actually comes from Lilith.

2. if you say that lilith was reduced to an embryo, why should she grow into a giant without her legs? just like any embryo, the whole body develops at the same time.

3. speaking of embryo, hasnt it been established that it was Adam which was reduced into an Embryo?

4. as for Adam, what do you call that thing on Gendou's hand in EoE? dont you think that in order to ensure that the HCP will continue as scheduled, Gendou had to make sure that the Angel's will find Adam in the most unlikely place?

All of those points were raised, plus one or two more i think, thats why it was dropped.

Im sure this was on the old board, or was it just over icq?

The funny thing is that the questions it woud answer are not really that important, while the questions it then raises are somewhat fundumental.

I think Pen Pen, you should elaborate a bit on what you have said to begin this thread. :)

In some old tales, Adam was a giant of light. He was both male and female. God punished him by splitting him into two beings. A female and male form. This may ahve made Adam and Eve or Adam and Lillith. Lillith was the first wife of Adam. Taking this into account, In the NGE series, the being on the cross may have been both lillith and adam, and the project was named adam as well. That would mean that the embryo was adam as well as lillith, and the being in terminal dogma was them also. It was the mother and the father of all beings. The beginner of all life was Adam, but the beginner was Adam, still one being.

I babble, so just ignore this if you want. But using information from the series, I would still think they are the same being.

Back on that destrudo thing, in the hectic scene in which Shinji is to be restored there seems to be some weird jargon being thrown around.

Destrudo, cathexis, Klein Space, etc.

Cathexis sounds like a freudian term and I think Klein was a mathematician. Are the terms related? There are many references in Eva but I havn't known of anyone to research these particular terms.

Oh Yeah, and that's what we need Captain Authority here for. To come in to this Adam/Lillith discussion and tell everyone exactly how it is, sometimes with complimentary venom!!

If Adam was indeed the giant in terminal dogma, then why did Kaworu say that it was Lilith? - also in EoE, what was the thing implanted on Gendou's hand?

it was adam in Gendos hand. the fact that it was lilith on the cross is undisputed and undisputable. well to elaborate on what i was saying.....err what was i saying? I'll get back to you in a little while

I must say, as a theory it was rather good at the time, but those annoying questions arose and complicated everything.

My guess is that you were thinking of something and this seemed to answer all the questions, sort of like illumination from above, the reason i say this is because i think that is how it felt when it first came out.

of course i could be missing the target by a mile.
