The Idea of a drift/street racing Anime sounds sweet, but is Initial D any good?

Its crappy animated and the CG isn't that good either, but somehow I like it, I just can explained it. This one is a must see to believe how good it is. Overall I think the character are a bit weird or overactive(obsessive), then again if you badmouthing my car I probably would too;)

I was looking at that series also. I have a Skyline (not the GT-R version) but the single turbo. Anyway it looks pretty good just by looking at the pics, but we will see when I check it out.

From what i've heard from yumi-chan, who hasn't posted here in awhile, the series is pretty good. Seeing as how shes more into import cars and what not and so is her b/f too i'm assuming its D4MN good. :p From the little that i've seen I'll agree that the animation is not the best out there. However from what i've read of the storyline and from what people have said, it sounds very interesting. Interesting enough for me to watch it and actually not regret seeing it. :heh: Ok thats my two cents on this one. :p

Initial D is a pretty good series. Whether or not you like racing and cars and all that will determine how well you like the series. At times it can be pretty slow for someone who isn't too interested, but I think it's pretty cool, yet I haven't seen the whole series. I will soon though :). Initial D is a rather good series, and the music is sweet.

Live in Tokyo has become my theme song, cause that's where I hope to move to :)

Initial D is one of the few series with a transition between 2D and 3D animation so maybe this is why some of you think it's crappy. This series is like an animated version of Gran Turismo. I even tried doing some of those Initial D drifts with the hachi-roku in GT and was..... unsuccesful.

I think they are exaggerating those drift a bit too much, its all look good and cool, but such a drift is nowhere near reality or they have dangerously low profile on their tyres. In real life you couldn't possibly get your car to lose traction that much unless you are driving on a wet or snowy(read slippery) roads.

This series is basicly like Captain Tsubasa but with cars. They give you enough of a story so it won't become just a mindless car show (like some movies I know of). The music rocks big time, it really sets the perfect mood for racing. I animation seems fugly at first, but one gets used to it after a while. Having the cars in CG makes the races really exciting, since they are very well detailed and even do well to represent the weight shift while driving.

Basicly, if you like cars and racing, then you will really enjoy this show. Even if you are not a big fan of cars, I think this series will still be entertaining.

I change my mind you could actually drift like that, but the question would you really want to put your car to it. Doesn't look to good for the engine or the tires.

I've seen a few photos of retired drift cars and belive me, it doesn't look like their owners cared much about the engine, tires or bodywork much e.g. gaping holes filled with bog that has just been slapped on & tires down to the canvas.

Most RWD drift cars use smaller diameter wheels at the back any way to try and keep tire costs down.

if only i could find it!!

good drifting can seem impossible.. in cartoons and computer games especially!!! in gt2, you can get pefectly sideways every corner if you set the car up right (wrong?). mind you the ae86 isn't the best car for that in the game!!

remember, it's not reality... and i don't like how initial D has pulled up the demand on hachi's : (

Has anyone seen that 86 race against a EVO VI in Inital D, now that would be interesting. I don't know, I have just seen initial D up to eps 14 first stage.

How about the old '87 Alfa spider in chilli pepper red, that looks a lot better than the new one.

I drive nothing fancy at all, just 1996 1.6 liter Hyundai lantra, its comfy and goes up to 200 km/h(120 miles per hour)

Its pretty good. If you like cars, its a must see. The Super EuroBeat sounds great, the characters are drawin differently...a nice change from eva style.

Some people can actually drift as good as the movie...
heres some..ahem..mods, sample drifting movies....
