yeah i just saw ep one of Record Of Lodoss War OVA's and it was pretty good. Nice animation and music that suits the fantasy setting. I hope to get more of this soon.

I much prefered the first episode of the oav series compared to the Tv series

Is it true the animation is from 91?

whats better the OAV or the TV series?

I prefer the TV series. It was longer, had comedy, the animation quality was newer (1995-1997?), Parn was actually a cool knight, and the opening and ending themes sound really cool. :D

I think the OAV has a better storyline though.

Concidering I haven't seen the TV series... (Actually I haven't seen the OVA finished yet either)...

I can say I like the OVA though ^_^, and I liked a short preview I saw of the TV series once... so I guess I like both, I'll probably like the OVA best though..

Its called "In the Middle of the Action." Its an actual literature term, though its properly stated in another language, I think Latin, though I may be incorrect. I *think* it is "en Medies Res" or something like that.

Basically, it means that the story begins in the middle of the action and then goes back to the beginning later OR explains everything through flashbacks. That is what the first episode did. It introduced us to the characters and the action and then went back and explained the story. Technically, the first episode takes place between Episode 6 and 7 (or was it 5 and 6?). Damn, I haven't watched the OVA in a while since I've been busy collecting more and more stuff.

When you stop to consider that the TV series, ws in fact a TV series, the level of animation and detail is really amazing.

I personally prefer the OAV, but that's only because i like the themesong more, and I think the animation is slightly better. Plus, unlike Nokari, i prefer the more serious nature of the OAV to the comical side of the TV series and I don't really like how Orson and Shiris were portrayed in the TV series.

They're still both really really good series though, and they complement eachother nicely.

Yes, well the characters were portrayed in the tv series as they were portrayed in the Novels. Orson and Shiris appeared in Novel 3 and 4. Shiris returned in Novel 7 (she may have been in Novel 5, but I'm not sure). They are a lot closer to their original character designs. Also, I think the TV series gave us a lot more insight into Orson and Shiris. It actually showed Orson develop emotions for a little while, and shiris eventually gave up mercenary work and became freakin queen of Moss (the Kingdom of the Dragons).
