Has anyone seen this one yet? If so, what do you guys think about it?

I thought it was a great movie, a bit dark atmosphere, kinda bloody. Well thought out story line, but a bit low on character development imo. I was suprised how well the english blend with the Japanese. I hope there will be more cause there is so much more you can learn about the maincharacter and why she is hunting those creatures.

Saw it last year. Kinda neat. I will try and find out about possible sequels later in the year when Silicon Pulp (www.siliconpulp.com.au) has a "Blood" exhibition.

Hmm....even more mindless than most American action flicks. Neato graphics though, but the storyline was pretty lacking, the characters were horribly flat, and it was all in all, rather pointless.
But hey! Don't take my word for it! ^_^

The awesome graphics are nearly enough to distract you from the meager storylinje. It's worth watching tho.

I thought I was a great little piece. The problem was that it was so little. IMO there is alot of potential for more in both directions of time.
Eval?: I felt I got dropped into the middle of something big, like when I started watching Flame of Recca at ep 2X.
The lack of character development in the short ep made it feel like one ep in a mass of others.
A lot of things that happen seem to assume that the audience had prior knowledge of the strange things that be. Kinda like when I watched Nadesico - the Prince of Darkness before Mobile Battleship Nadesico, or Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz before the Gundam Wing TV series. Very swamped. I spent much of the time trying to figure out the boundaries of its world and the things that exist in it, and not enough on just plain enjoyment.
A mentioned by prev posties, the mix of English and Japanese was well utilised.

Too dark for my taste ....and not only the plot ...the colors are too dark... but i really liked the CG

Apparently the darkness was a side-effect of it having been completely done on computer or something.

Uhh I think computers can make light colours too :)

That was just the explanation I got for the fact that the piece was so dark, which was why they chose such a dark story to pioneer the technology.
It being animated aside, maybe it's because if there is too much light, it starts to look too fake. Any ideas?

the graphics really got on my nerves and distracted from the plot. it was too short, but it wasn't that bad. i expected more though.

My verdict? Well, it looks incredible... Storywise, though, it's lacking. When I first saw it, I got the sense it was more about the animation itself than the characters or plot. In that way, it's similar to a summer blockbuster/special effects movie. I did like the style of it, but why make such a big deal about a short film with flat characters? Why put so much effort into it? Then I did some research on the web. It turns out that the anime Blood, was just one narrow peek at the setting they've created. The catch? You can't get the whole story watching the anime. You have to read the manga, the novels, etc... That's where you'll find all the background and character development, apparently. For example...
*SPOILER*
Did you know that Saya is a vampire, herself? Probably not. They certainly don't mention it in the movie, as I recall. Personally, I don't much feel like investing my time and money in buying and reading all that material. ('Course, it hasn't been released in the US anyway; they're waiting to see how the movie does.) Now, if they plan to make this a series of movies that will portray the events in those novels, then maybe I'll buy it. I'd say Blood is a 'rent before you purchase' kind of movie.

I liked Blood. My taste in movies and anime are really pretty dark. The animation was awesome especially the CG. Sweeeeeeeeeeet! The action was also some of the most intense Ive seen in anime latley. THe story was alright. It couldve been great if they added a little more and developed the characters. I still dont have any idea what those monsteres were and why they were on the base. In the end it does make it obvious that Saya is a Vampire but thats all. Are the monsters genetically engineered by the military? Are they clones of Saya, "the last remaining original"? What the hell are they!!!

I think the creatures are human-vampire crossbreeds. I haven't examined the DVD in detail but apparently it was an attempt to mix in the vampire genes or something, to enhance humans. From what the 2 guys that back Saya up appear to be, it is most likely a government backed experiment, similar to their experiments with radiation, only more top secret.
As for "the last remaining original" remark, it could mean that vampires evolved on their own and after their existence was uncovered, experiments were done and Saya is the only survivor or something.
From the way Saya acts when tracking the creature (whose official escapes me for the moment), you could tell she wasn't normal. And the skills she demonstrates clearly points to the fact that she is a vampire. Angel (as in Buffy the Vampire Slayer) demonstrated some of the same skills.
The last scene where the school nurse is being interviewed about the previous night's events, she is shown a photograph labelled "vampire" (or some variation in the spelling) of which Saya is in. If memory serves, it was also labelled as being taken around the 1890s - 60-70 years prior to the events in the piece (not sure exactly, it's all on the DVD).
Apparently there are also rumours of a game. If it's true, it'll be probably be on Playstation or something. Ideas?
One other thing: Did anybody else feel the fires didn't flicker fast enough to look right?

I saw this earlier today at Suncoast, but I didn't get it. Hmm... dark, huh? Sounds good to me. I might just pick it up next time I go.
I havent see Blood yet but Israfel was telling me something about it being held at MAS or something like that. Ive heard that the Animation is ment to be Amazing.

Not only Saya is a vampire, but she is from the original. In the movie you see an old 1970ish picture with Saya and a bunch of other people, and the guy that gives Saya her targets says "Protect her at all costs! She's one of the originals! She's irreplacable!"
One thing though,I never liked the "Cold hearted doesn't give a damn" kind of hero, wich is why I didn't like the movie much.

I guess this means you aren't much of a Vampire Princess Miyuu either, ne?

By comparison to Saya, Miyu is warm and cuddly. Also, she lightens up a little (just a little, mind you) towards the end of the series. Anime on DVD described Blood as 'the longest trailer for an anime ever,' but you're 'still left wanting a movie at the end.' Harsh. But not terribly inaccurate, I'm afraid.
