i found "the steel angel kurumi special" dvd for rent at this asian mall. i was excited cause it was "all" region coded, plus it had english subtitles as an option.

but what i want to know is why is the regular series dvds region 2?

Maybe because you were looking at a HK fansub at the asian shop. It might be because the anime company behind the show wanted to release the anime one market at a time, so they did the region 2 discs first.

i dont believe it was a HK fansub...but i could be wrong. thanks anyways.
